Taxonomy terms
incl. aliases & nicknames
Caveats. Many terms are ambiguous — "dublin" (city / Dion Dublin), "henry" (Thierry Henry / anyone named Henry), "rio" (Rio Ferdinand / Rio de Janeiro / a car), "keane" (Roy Keane / Robbie Keane / Harry Kane phonetic), etc. Surname-only matches on ex-player pundits also pick up references to their playing days. VADER doesn't understand football context, so sarcasm, banter and emoji-only posts can push scores around. Treat the headline rankings as directional, not forensic.
Top terms by raw occurrences
Total times each taxonomy term appeared across the 2,681,883 posts (top 40 shown). Includes names, nicknames (e.g. carra, wrighty) and meta tokens (commentator, pundit, overlay). Multiple aliases for the same person (e.g. gary neville, neville, gnev) appear as separate rows here — the canonical view is below.

- MW23·ARSMUN+1.00I feel like hes playing a bit of a mind game saying he should hand the baton over!!
However Ancelotti would be perfect at Manchester United, he prefers a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-3 and the way he sets up the wing backs and wingers would be a good fit.
Whoever it is, I can only echo Neville. I think because of UTD success other teams supporters think we can not take losing but the majority of supporters there around before the 1992 and waited 25 years for that success. As a supporter I just want to see desire, passion, fight (this DNA they talk about.) For me though entertaining, I can take losing and want to win every match but if they put a shift in and the better team won or was just unlu...

- MW32·MUNLEE-0.98Gary Neville needs to have a word with mates Carrick and Keane to explain the Martinez sending off. Hair pulls are straight red card offences for a reason. They are often picked up by VAR rather than the on field referee
Hair pulls are ugly offences and have no place in the beautiful game. They are straight red card offences not just for the optics or for legalistic reasons.
Crucially hair pulls have potential to cause serious injury. Hair pulls directly endanger the safety of the opponent by causing sudden, violent whiplash to the neck and head. Even if not a "punch," a purposeful yank is rightly deemed excessive force and a violent act for good reason. Players and managers kn...
- MW28·ARSCHE-0.98Why do we always play to the level of our opposition?!? Chelsea are clearly rubbish, despite Neville wanking himself off over every thing they do, and yet we’ve decided to play equally bad and forgotten how to do anything even at a basic level, like passing to feet, and not passing to players surrounded or behind a Chelsea player.
It’s infuriating because even when we have an off day we don’t drop our whole level as a team, but that’s what we’ve been doing for the past few months. Haven’t looked decent this calendar year, with the exception of Villa, and that was in part because they were abject that day.
I have so much sympathy for Arteta because he can only tell them so much and the...

- MW4·BURLIV+1.00Couple notes from Burnley game
1. Everyone talked last season about Arne Slot needing adaptation high. Last season he took the squad to the prem but this season we have new players, new tactics and everyone wants everything to be perfect right away. 4 bloody games in, give the team some time to gel.
2. Adding onto this idea, we must keep in mind Diogo Jota's passing (Rest in peace), and the impact it would of had on the squad. One of their work colleagues but also a great friend who they see probably more than their family. Especially with Mo as we have seen his struggles, that needs to be taken into account.

- MW30·LIVTOT+1.00I’ve avoided being Slot out all season long but been worn down match by match. I just can’t with it anymore. The players need to cop some responsibility for sure but the system and the tactics are not working.
Wirtz is our best playmaker but somehow keeps finding himself isolated as the furthest man forward in the box. He needs to take more shots on than he does and that is a him thing, but he shouldn’t be pressed so high when he is the one meant to be pulling strings.
Szobo is a CM, not a RB. Yes, he can play on the right, and yes, our top two RBs have been injured; i don’t care. Put your game-winning players in positions where they can win the game. And that is not at RB. Gomez is mor...

- MW29·WOLLIV-1.00I feel like that missed pass at the end from Mo is like the litmus test for how people discuss him and the rest of our attack.
His only two genuine opportunities tonight came from an opposition error (which he did very well to score from) and then his own hustle (which he did very poorly to mess up) - the last time he scored a PL goal was the EXACT same story: gifted by Emi Martinez.
Listen, Mo should have done better, I agree with you all, but he’s a high volume attacker and always has been. Tonight is not the first time we’ve seen Mo mess up an easy chance but score a much harder one.
The difference is that Mo isn’t a high volume attacker anymore. He isn’t even a medium volume attack...
- MW31·BHALIV-0.99We lost the game here when Jones was brought on for Ekitike.
It should have been Rio, and later Jones on for Gakpo in the 2nd half.
The squad not being prepared for this match and not rotated or protected by our very own coach is astonishing!
Szobo, Macca, Kerkez, Frimpong were all spent in this match. Am sorry to say but Frimpong is a great player but not suited for the defense in the PL with his physique. Yikes it feels weird to even say it out loud.
Wirtz didn’t have support and couldn’t provide it either, certainly not made easier by Gakpo’s uselessness. Man is stealing a living this season!! AND NOT BEING DROPPED LIKE WHAT MAGIC IS HE PULLING OFF IN TRAINING THAT SLOT REFUSES T...
- MW20·FULLIV-0.98Wirtz’s fitness issue needs to be sorted out asap. We’re at a dilemma right now with him where he could be the worst player on the pitch, but we look completely lost unable to circulate possession when he comes off.
Against Fulham he had a decent performance, but he comes off and suddenly we cannot progress at all down the middle of the pitch and everything was getting funnelled to the right flank. Against Leeds he had a horrific performance, yet still when he was subbed we looked worse off without him.
He needs to stay on the pitch regularly for 90 mins, I’m tired of seeing Slot hook him around the 60-70 minute mark, as soon as that substitution happens you might as well turn off the...

This season I can barely force myself to tune into games because when I do, like tonight, the football we are playing is so fucking dire and unwatchable.
It actually somewhat impresses me - the horrible football we are capable of playing despite the talent in the squad. I really don't know what the solution is, I'm not necessarily in the Slot out camp. But it really does feel like a change might be inevitable.

- MW29·WOLLIV-0.98I guess I agree with most of it but I would not judge Macca or Jones too harshly, instead I would slate Slot. He needs to make the team play but Macca was way too isolated, so often against 2+ Wolves players and without support. I don't know where Jones was, he was close to LW at one point, then he was RB/RCM a bit later...I mean...what? It's the manager who dictates positions but Jones looked quite confused and ineffective and then indirectly caused that losing goal but he was at RB at the time and had no one to pass to.
My point is, what is even our system? We are such a mess that I would not even blame our players too much, except wingers who have been very poor all season.

- MW5·LIVEVE+1.00Pickford – Started off a big middling, with his distribution not working out too well. He cannot be blamed for either goal, and though you always want to say the GK cannot let themselves be nutmegged I don’t think you can really blame him when Ekitike had the liberty of shooting anywhere he pleased and Pickford had to prioritise looking big. In the 2nd half he improved despite not really having much to do in terms of saves. His distribution was improved and targeted cleverly towards the left, and a couple of times he made smart rushes out of the goal to secure a loose ball.
Keane – Mixed game, though not bad. Occasionally struggled with positioning and in 1v1s, and it’s noteworthy that b...

- MW6·BREMUN-0.98Damn, I never thought I'd feel bad for Man United in my life, but here we are, just a tad bit over 10 years since SAF is no longer in charge... how quickly things change in football.
I don't think Ruben is the right coach for you, but as an outsider that follows football extremely closely, even if this manager is not the one, the main issue doesn't seem to be the coach.
Apart from the questionable management of the club overall, you don't seem to have devils from the Academy in the team anymore - players willing to die for that team are no longer incorporated in the first team. I always found it amazing how SAF managed to incorporate, I am not ashamed to say it, average players (compar...

- MW20·EVEBRE-0.97Our transfer business has been absolutely disgraceful.
Rohl and Dibling are both just horrendous. Rohl just seems to have no ability to play with a football and Dibling is lightweight and lazy.
For all his faults, the one thing I'll give Mykolenko is that he tries to make things happen, felt like he was the only one in that first half who gave a shit, everyone else in the team was hiding.
Keane reverted back to his old self for today, Tarks has been suspect at times this season and had an awful game too.
Last thing to note is how awful the Brentford fans were. Battering us and they're absolutely silent, at least Forest tried to make a bit of noise with their poverty chanting.

- MW20·LEEMUN+0.99@gassyinc6406 I am not avoiding the question, I was hoping you can connect the dots but since you can't, I can simplify it for you: with Amorim we have won vs Burnley and vs Brighton, games we have drew and lost recently. Amorim inherited (football heritage, google it), squad with Garnacho, Onana, Sancho and many more mediocre players, are they good enough to be Man Utd players? See where they play, how they play, if they play. We have finished 15th last season (and he inherited a squad in THAT position!), before he was sacked we were 6th, it''s called "progress" and it's not usually linear. Games we dropped points this season: Nottingham, West Ham, Everton, Wolves, we would've lost them ...
- MW4·BURLIV+0.982.8 xG from 27 shots is 0.1 xG a shot which doesn't sound compelling but it's 2.04 xG from 26 non penalty shots which is 0.08 xG a shot. That definitely speaks to an inability to create any kind of good shooting opportunity on a consistent basis. It's reasonable to call scoring when you're not being able to make good shots lucky.
For context, this is better than the Arsenal game which was some 0.05 xG per shot.
There is a difference between "Liverpool are fortunate to win" and "Liverpool are fortunate this wasn't a draw". I don't know which Carragher means but I don't see how you can argue the second sentiment is inaccurate. Winning by one goal due to a stoppage time penalty against ten...

United havent played good at all the last few games, but everybody just looks at those first two wins and see them as enough. Brilliant performance against city and arsenal but we usually do well vs the good teams. It’s always been the mid table / bottom table teams we struggle with and the lowblocks. Carrick has showed that he can’t handle them (at least so far but with that being the biggest issue you’d think he’d have a plan for it by now especially after his winning streak). 10 man Newcastle scores 2 against us and we get a pen which was controversial to m...
