We have a huge gap in our abilities on attacking transitions - we're certainly one of the worst in the top 10 of the league at them, and that may be generous. How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

Captivating Talking Points
Win is all that matters but we really make it as hard as possible. First half, we had so many good situations, and just don't execute, and then concede after 0 threat all half. Actually think the first half performance was largely good, but just need to be clinical. City have had so many wins were they are completely mid but just take a chance. Second half, we came out so slow, and that's been a w…

Believer There's definitely that aspect but I think the mediocrity of our GK and the lack of height in the team really did us no favours. It really did feel like we were playing well before conceding that stupid second goal.

"Thank fuck"
Going forward, this team doesn't need relaxing beach trips mid-season. They need to be taken to a military training exercise so that they can learn how to keep their calm under pressure. 20 mins of being outplayed by a 10 man team at home, and having to hang on by the slimmest of margins due to a GK masterclass isn't anyone's idea of a title challenge. Super glad we won but shit like this won't fly at the Etihad
Lol SAS training camp it is so
Send them to Dagestan, and forget.
8 more wins and we are through! +
8 wins could still not be enough if we lose to City
City will not win all their other remaining games. I'm predicting 2 more losses for them, minimum
They have very winnable games. Villa is falling off otherwise that’s probably their last chance to drop point unless we beat them. Otherwise, we also play teams that can nick some points off.
[deleted]
Lol why? It's just a prediction.
8 wins and a draw! +
"Two blatant penalties not given, really abhorrent football from arsenal until they were a man down as well. Surely they can't become champions."
They keep on beating all the teams they need to beat. Are in all cups and won out the CL For a shit team they are doing remarkably well. It is only because it is Arsenal that everything is negative rather than talking up the potential of this season. PL games are just shit to watch because everyone and their mother plays a low block and hopes and Arsenal will play all the dark arts.
I wouldn't say that having the lowest point tally in first place at this point of the season since Leicester is "beating all the teams they need to beat". I don't think they're shit either, nor do I think that they shouldn't play the dark arts when necessary. But it is pitiful to not be able to create any danger at home when a man up. Also not all pl games are boring, plenty of big games are fun. Man u vs city and arsenal, man city vs Liverpool all happened in the last month.
They were pretty wank vs 10 too tbh. Raya saved them this match.
Their match at the Etihad might have a record for least amount of time with the ball spent in play
City literally showed up to the emirates and played a low block with 28% possession yet you’re fantasizing about how Arsenal are bad since they might do the same Get a grip loser. Hold that L
Where’s the AFTV clip of them cheering for a draw
Didn't chelsea do that tge first time around?
Was Chelsea in the title race then? Surely different contexts isn’t hard to miss
No Chelsea are too shit to be in any sort of meaningful title race I’m sure you’ll win the conference league next season though
sadly they probably will
"I will never agree with Artetas pragmatism when it comes to situations like this. The data might show that its safer to go defensive in situations like this, but it totally neglects the psychological "
I'm not convinced its Arteta's fault. We could have been passing well and creating chances aplenty instead if the team was better
I am personally okay with pragmatism if it is done well. Whatever we are doing ain't it. I never get the sense that we are actually in control, even if we score first. I think our toothless attack has a lot to do with it. As game opens and opponents start taking more risks, we need to punish them, but we absolutely stink in that department. Only thing that was working for us was the set pieces.
i don't think it's arteta's instructions. i think the players are tired and scared
I can't believe what we're seeing at the end of games in the last two months is Arteta's plan. I think the team has a mental block and Odegaard's unavailability has something to do with it.
If it’s intentional, then he should have brought in Mosquera or Califiori to help things.
There's just no movement from the center of the field. It's as if the midfielders and attackers are waiting for someone *else* to do something. Really reminiscent of the mid 2010s when we just passed in a U shape around the backline for minutes on end. It's not just when we are sitting on a lead, it's the whole match. We aren't trying to create our own chances, our chances come from forcing the opposition to make mistakes, so when the onus is on us to do something, no one wants to be the one breaking ranks.
How do you know he told them to play like that?
Ya, Wenger ball was fun even though we got spanked a few times. Would've loved to see him build a squad with the kind of money Arteta spent. I'm not sure if I would be an Arsenal fan had Arteta ball been my first introduction to the club. +
Going defensive like this is inviting so much attacking intent from the opposition it's a vicious cycle of compounding more pressure
Wtf is Gabi XL doing hitting a long ball when you outnumber them passing it around at the back with 5 mins left.
"I genuinely wonder how good this arsenal defense would be perceived if referees actually knew how to officiate set pieces should have given away 2 penalties today and seemingly every corner they bear"
Such a baby comment. People only look for the grabs when it benefits Arsenal. It’s both teams on EVERY set piece.
Chelsea did the same thing every one of Arsenal corners too, mind, we just scored 2 instead of complaining of Hato bear hugging Saliba
When Arsenal were in the banter years they got mocked for being ‘too soft’, prime example Azpi elbowing Bellerin so hard he went out cold in the air and his career never was the same again ‘and Arsenal players not wanting it enough’. Being harder and tougher was part of what makes champions. Now that Arsenal has some physicality (not excessively violet mind you) everyone is losing their goddamn minds
There was no clear penalty shout today.
well every team is doing it and they aren't doing it as well as us so that should tell you how good they are lol +
They would adjust, just as every other team would. The advantage they have is they've purchased lots of players who are great in the air and optimized their team around that. Chelsea's tactics are just as good but they don't have a Gabriel or Saliba. And Rice is probably the best set piece taker in the world. +
Love how you ignore Raya being held on the Rice handball corner. It’s cool when other teams do it. It’s a war crime when arsenal do.
If you watched both Arsenal goals, Chelsea defenders were literally doing the same thing, but it's trendy to rip on Arsenal, I get it. Every team does it. Every single one.
Do you need more salt buddy? 🧂 Did you fking go blind on Chelsea players doing exactly the same? Literally every fking team does this now, yet you're convinced Arsenal are the only ones.
I love how both teams do this and everyone only fumes about arsenal. Outstanding ragebait result today. +
"Billions spent to miss the UCL. Chelsea are not a serious club anymore"
Oh we are making it. You can bet on that +
I wouldn't lmao
I’d bet that. Who din you think over?
Villa
Well see next weekend
Their fans did their best last summer convincing everyone they were serious. Almost like a pre season tournament doesn’t mean anything when it comes to a full season
You guys were holding on with 10 men, and Caicedo was showing Rice levels. Have some shame 😂
You didnt score a single goal.
You only scored goals from set pieces and were holding on against 10 men. Reece and Caicedo also showed Timber and Rice levels once again
Caicedo showing levels of how to foul lmao

Both his best saves were ones that wouldn’t show up in xG stats - the save off Rice’s arm and the Garnacho cross. Amazing reflexes on both.
