How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

Fan Narratives
Forest Fans Blame Officials After Brighton Defeat
Controversial
Nottingham Forest supporters are gutted following a loss to Brighton, with many convinced the referee made dodgy decisions that cost them the game, though some Brighton fans are having a laugh celebrating the win. The mood's pretty split between those fuming about alleged bias from the officials and others just accepting it as one of those days in the Premier League.
Fans Fear Relegation and Mass Player Exodus
Emerging
Controversial
Supporters are absolutely fuming about their team's dire form and lack of fight, genuinely worried they're heading down to the Championship with most of the squad either too lazy or too good to stick around. There's real desperation in the air—fans reckon only a handful of players would even want to stay if they go down, and they're questioning whether the management's constantly cycling through managers has completely lost the dressing room.
Bakwa's Poor Form Sparks Fan Frustration
Emerging
Controversial
Fans are absolutely fuming with Bakwa's performances, criticising his consistent lack of impact, reckless fouling, and time-wasting antics on the pitch. There's widespread sentiment that he's not good enough for the club and that other players—whether youngsters or loan signings—would be far better alternatives, with many questioning what Nottingham Forest were thinking when they signed him for such a hefty fee.

Tottenham's Survival Battle Gets Tighter
Emerging
Controversial
Spurs fans are cautiously optimistic about their relegation scrap, with one win potentially keeping them up, whilst simultaneously hoping rivals like Forest and West Ham pick up losses to ease the pressure. The discussion highlights how tight the bottom of the table is, with supporters nervously tracking other results and upcoming fixtures to work out who might go down alongside them.

Brighton Fans Praise Welbeck's Goal and Resurgence
Emerging
Controversial
Brighton supporters are celebrating Danny Welbeck's impressive goal and his remarkable comeback season at 35 years old, with many arguing he deserves a World Cup call-up. There's some debate amongst fans about whether Welbeck's or Diego Gomez's strikes were the better goal, but the overall consensus is one of genuine admiration for the veteran striker's continued quality and impact.
Neco Williams Divides Opinion On His Performance
Fans are split on Neco's display, with some praising his contributions and work rate while others reckon he's had a mare defensively, getting caught out of position and making costly mistakes. There's genuine frustration that he's been singled out for criticism when he's arguably kept the side in the match, though several are calling for him to come off because he looks absolutely shattered.
Squad Selection Decisions and Player Performance Debate
Controversial
Fans are having a mixed debate about the manager's team selection, with particular focus on why certain players like Ortega are missing (injury) and disagreement over whether fringe players deserve inclusion ahead of established names. There's also notable disagreement about individual performances, with supporters arguing about whether specific players have actually been performing well or not.
Fans React With Relief and Disbelief
Looks like supporters have finally got something they've been waiting for, whether that's a substitution, a decision, or just something mad happening in the match — and their responses suggest it was either brilliantly executed or so long coming that the relief is palpable. The largely neutral sentiment with all the exasperated reactions suggests fans are torn between being buzzing it's happened and utterly baffled it took that long.
Players Under Fire for Inconsistent Performances
Fans are having a proper go at the squad for their lacklustre displays, with many suggesting the players forced out Dyche and are now coasting under Pereira whilst playing for individual moves rather than the team. There's genuine frustration that despite getting a manager change they demanded, the performances haven't improved — leaving supporters questioning whether the lads are actually the problem rather than the coaching.
Controversial Goal Mars Otherwise Brilliant Football
Controversial
Fans are absolutely buzzing about some genuinely gorgeous passing and build-up play from their side, but there's serious controversy brewing around a goal that's marred by what looks like a handball and a dodgy challenge on an opposing player. The passage of play itself was brilliant to watch, which makes the contentious finish all the more frustrating for those who reckon it shouldn't have counted.
Marinakis and Edu's Summer Spending Disaster
Emerging
Controversial
Forest fans are absolutely furious with owner Marinakis and sporting director Edu over disastrous summer transfers that have left the squad dysfunctional and the club heading towards relegation. The consensus is brutal—they reckon the ownership and recruitment have "nuked" the club from the top down, and fans genuinely believe the whole lot deserve to go down given how badly they've wasted money and mismanaged the squad.
Fans Frustrated With Toothless Attack And Passive Defence
Supporters are heavily criticising the team's lack of attacking identity and clinical finishing, with particular frustration aimed at the passive, disorganised defensive shape that's making opposition attacks look far too easy. There's a real sense that without Chris Wood they're completely blunt in the final third, and the overall tactical approach feels uninspired and reactive rather than proactive.

Fans Furious With Jesus and Referee Decisions
Controversial
Supporters are absolutely fuming about controversial refereeing decisions they believe are going against Gabriel Jesus, with many convinced the officials are treating him unfairly during matches. Beyond the ref decisions though, there's a broader frustration with Jesus's overall performance and positioning, with fans questioning whether he's simply not good enough at this level and questioning what he's supposed to do when he's not getting the service or making the right runs.
Murillo's Shocking Display Sparks Fan Frustration
Fans are absolutely fuming with Murillo's performance, with loads of them slagging him off for playing poorly alongside fellow underperformers Anderson and Neco Williams. There's genuine concern that these kinds of displays are doing his market value no favours, with supporters questioning whether a hundred-quid player should be putting in such diabolical showings.
Anderson's Frustrating Performance and Questionable Decisions
Emerging
Controversial
Fans are absolutely fuming with Anderson's display, criticising his decision-making, reckless play in dangerous areas, and shocking finishing — with several calling out his tendency to attempt dribbles he can't complete and take wild shots that fly into row Z. The consensus is he's doing far too much, taking unnecessary risks, and needs to cut out the theatrics, especially whilst on a yellow card.
Nottingham Forest Fans Slam Dire Performance and Effort
Forest supporters are absolutely fuming about their team's shockingly poor display, with widespread criticism of the defence, lack of effort, and mental exhaustion across the squad. Fans reckon the players aren't good enough, the formation isn't working despite multiple managers trying it, and they're getting outclassed by opposition who clearly want it more.
Fans Fuming Over Inconsistent Refereeing Decisions
Supporters are absolutely raging at the referee's inconsistent officiating, claiming he's either incompetent or corrupt as he's missing clear fouls while penalising players for reacting to being manhandled. The consensus is that the ref's allowing defenders to get away with dodgy challenges on Murillo, then bottling it when the player rightfully protests—classic one-sided nonsense that's got everyone wound up.
Mixed Emotions After Solid First-Half Performance
Controversial
Fans are cautiously optimistic following what most reckon was a decent first half, though there's lingering anxiety about whether the team can maintain their standards and actually see the job through. There's real optimism about the attacking play and final third creativity, but also concern about defensive vulnerabilities and the need to push for a crucial win to build momentum.
Taiwo's Mixed Performance In Crucial Match
Emerging
Fans are divided on Taiwo's contribution during the match, with some criticising defensive mistakes (particularly a poor reaction to a free kick) whilst others express hope that he could be instrumental in salvaging a result or even preventing relegation. The discussion reflects both frustration at defensive lapses and cautious optimism about what Taiwo might still achieve in the remaining minutes.

Fans' Hearts Can't Handle the Tension
Supporters are absolutely doing their heads in over how stressful and nerve-wracking their team's matches have been, with loads of blokes joking they're having genuine cardiac episodes from the anxiety of it all. The banter suggests the games are dragging on emotionally—particularly reminiscent of a previous Everton match—leaving fans feeling properly wound up and exhausted by the sheer tension of the performances.
Defensive Woes and Tactical Struggles Despite Strong Squad
Controversial
Fans are analysing their side's defensive collapse this season, recognising that the back four is actually the same solid unit from last year, so they're pointing fingers at tactics and mentality rather than the players themselves. There's also frustration about their striker's dreadful form—dropping from one in two to one in thirteen—and scepticism about whether any realistic January transfers could genuinely turn things around.

Next step Arsenal. Become the league's darlings by finalising the bottle job and then we push on for europe.
What's that? We barely scraped past an utterly abysmal Nottingham Forest? Irrelevant, we're going back to Athens.

Pressures off, no need to rush any decisions on Fab until the end of the season.

"I don't mind losing when it's fair and equal but not when the officials help the other team to win, that ref today was biased as hell, how he gave free kicks to Brighton for soft challenges, but challenges on forest were ignored, Brighton should of had a player sent off and two penalties awarded to forest, if all challenges for both teams were fair, but no, we can't be fair to both teams 🤬"
"The refereeing was poor but if we had actually played well then that wouldn’t have mattered."

"Nope. Dyche was taking us down with a team that looked broken and had any tactical or footballing awareness and knowledge beasted out of them."
He was listed for manager of the month in Jan 😂 This narrative is just bizarre
↳
Mate Dyche was absolutely taking us down, the players had quite visibly gone under him. We might still go down under Vitor but we were dead and buried with Dyche if the players werent trying.
↳
Did you watch any of his games before he was sacked? Leeds away , the chance he had to put some daylight between us and West ham, and drag Leeds into it, was utterly abject.
↳
I have watched every game this season. Not sure why people feel the need to be condescending or pretend they are the only one in the world with a season ticket.
It wasn’t great at times - but it’s not like Vitor has fixed anything is it? My point as much as anything is that Dyche has been there and kept sides up repeatedly in a way Vitor hasn’t (bar one time last season with several really excellent players at Wolves like Cunha).
↳
if you're going to moan about people being condescending When youve just started a post telling everyone that it was akshully the wrong decision to sack Dyche based on 4 games for the new manager then you need to have a word with yourself.
↳
the post was really more about Marinakis actually if you reread it - much more so than the new manager. please do reread it slowly, i know reading is tough.
it was also about the much lauded new manager bounce. which hasn’t happened has it? cos your man Vitor isn’t gonna be able to fix all the issues and isn’t a season pro in this sort of situation
↳
Not if you went to any of the games where we looked dead. I had to sit through Leeds, Braga and Wolves. Wolves were probably the worst team I've seen in the Premier League and we didn't have a fucking clue against them. Even in Jan we were scraping results but playing shite most of the time. By February the whole team looked unfit. He was killing the team.
↳
The Wolves that then drew with Arsenal and just beat Villa? That Wolves?
Edit: Having said that, if a manager losses the dressing room, it never ends well. We were kind of damned if you to, damned if you don't when sacking Dyche.
↳
Who fucking cares what they did in other matches. When we played them they were utterly dogshit in that particular match. And we were somehow worse.
↳
You sound fun.
Imagine thinking that a teams results doesn't reflect how good /bad they are
"Glad to get the win…
But fuuuuucks sake I can’t with Fabian anymore. There’s no excuse to be in this position at the end of almost every match.

I’m gonna have to agree with the badger. The game management today was better than it was last season. Despite it being a close game we held on and didn’t make any dumb errors. The last two wins have been a total 180 to the prior games leading up to them.
I will say though, that waiting until the 85th minute for subs is killing me. Nevertheless, as the age old adage states, FUCK IT WE BALL! UTFA!!
↳
"There’s no excuse to be in this position at the end of almost every match." -- I don't know exact numbers, but I suspect that most EPL wins are by one goal. Things get scary at the end for most match-winning teams.
↳
That’s part of my argument. Don’t wait so long to make those subs while the other team gains momentum with fresh legs. One sub before the 85th minute is insane. Milner looked ready to collapse coming off the pitch.
Don't make any chances? We had plenty that we didn't finish. That's not on Fabian.
I can’t tell if they’re coached specifically to not take shots unless it’s a clear cut opportunity after the 65th, or if the players opt to pass it around on their own.
Either way, that needs to change. Our xg TANKS in those last thirty.
↳
I can't speak to the accuracy of the info in the following link, but it shows that we would be 15th based on first-half performance and 5th based on our second half work.
One could call that game management though. Last season against Leicester, Wolves, Forest we threw away much more convincing leads by not playing defensively at the end of the game
↳
You're quite right, of course, but if we play like that on Wednesday we're getting murdered. Arsenal are a lot better than Forest and we barely hung on at the end.
↳
I don’t agree that just not making subs until painfully late is good game management though. We opened the door by not making changes sooner. Make the subs sooner and don’t let them and all of their subs run all over us. We have good players on the bench.
↳
I agree, we continued to create chances without leaving ourselves open at the back.
"Why even touch the defender and give the ref a decision to make? Jesus is one of the most brain dead footballers I’ve ever seen. He always makes the wrong or stupid decision."
"Why even touch the defender and give the ref a decision to make? Jesus is one of the most brain dead footballers I’ve ever seen. He always makes the wrong or stupid decision."
It's a contact sport and the prem is supposed to be one of the more physical leagues. If you can't challenge a defender then, as the kids say, games gone.
↳
What was he challenging him for though? He was never getting the ball and we were about to win a corner. There was zero reason to even be within touching distance of him let alone shoulder barge him in the back.
↳
So he should allow the defender free reign to collect the ball, prevent the corner and recycle play for them?
↳
It was obvious he was headed the ball out for a corner.
↳
If i didn't know better, I'd say you were just looking for an excuse to have a pop at him. Of course, that couldn't be the case.
↳
So you think shoulder barging the defender was the right choice?
↳
Barge? Its shoulder to shoulder, legimate play, wind your neck in.
↳
Shoulder to back watch it again. Or shoulder to shoulder blade if we are being pedantic.
he is fucking thick
"thing is, if Dyche lost the players then we wouldn’t stay up anyway, they simply wouldn’t be performing for him (as seen in the Wolves and Leeds games)"
"thing is, if Dyche lost the players then we wouldn’t stay up anyway, they simply wouldn’t be performing for him (as seen in the Wolves and Leeds games)"
Maybe we should direct our anger to the players for once? Us also booing Dyche makes them so much stronger
↳
The ‘booing’ is also directed to the players e.g. in the Wolves game, MGW had to calm down fans who were annoyed at Hutchinson for his corners. I don’t think the players are getting any free passes this season, seen plenty of dissatisfaction directed toward them
↳
Those corners were a symptom of a team being completely mentally broken.
Dyche was a similar ilk to Hughton and O’Neil before him, I just don’t think it would have worked out. I think you are absolutely right.
Tbh after the run of games you quoted, I kind of accepted relegation bar a miracle happening. And yes, I do know we have Jesus
He didn’t lose the players. A small group (seemingly including Murillo) didn’t like him. But he was getting the best out of Sangare and Dominguez as examples. You think they wanted him gone?
↳
Even if it was a ‘small group’ (which is impossible to know considering we don’t have insider knowledge on how many players were against Dyche or not) they still would’ve been the most senior and ‘star’ players, who would have draw and influence, as they were the ones summoned to Marinakis before Dyche’s departure.
I think if it’s Dyche or Vitor this team is a lost cause. Marinakis seemingly thought he’s lost *some* (most?) players here, it’s better to get him gone and attempt to boost morale to stay up.
↳
don’t you think in every football club across the country there is some disharmony with players who aren’t playing etc? not everyone is going to be perfectly happy all of the time. and you know what winning football matches is as good an answer as anything to disharmony.
and isn’t this what a good leader does? finds a way to fix problems? marinakis could have fixed things between nuno and edu back in the summer - or backed our best manager since Clough. instead marinakis decides he’d rather get someone else in as manager instead of facing up to problems or admitting he was wrong
↳
With the Dyche situation if the ‘senior’ players had come out in support of him he would still be here - if you’re Marinakis and you’re starting to panic now, and your players come and voice dissatisfaction with the manager you back your players as they are the ones that get you the points on the pitch - that seems to be the reality of the situation, wether they *should* be acting in the way they did is another question
I agree Nuno should’ve been backed from the start, maybe Marinakis learnt from getting rid of the most popular manager without consultation that when it came to Dyche he’s leaned on player opinion too much? Who knows, still think we would’ve gone down with Dyche, still think we will go down with Vitor. Everyone is to blame
↳
Fair analysis/reflection i suppose - although, yes all of this is conjecture.
that said I doubt Marinakis thinks he’s has anything to learn from anyone or any situation. i really doubt once he’s made his mind up that he cares what someone like say Ola Aina thinks 🤷♂️

"Forest are going down. Concede goals for fun and never look like scoring"
Except they scored
@goych oooo one goal but time
Ah guess Morgan gibbs white just doesn't exist then must've been a strong gust of wind to put in the back of the net I suppose
@Lufcbailey2006😂😂 enjoy the championship
@benooo3863yeah nice one still same position in table at the start of the weekend we will be safe before final day
That first goal shouldn't of counted, williams was fouled, plus the ref was terrible, kept siding with Brighton at every opportunity 🤷
@benooo3863even worse yet dirty Leeds wasteman 😢
@Matthewswiftsilverno Williams wasn't fouled 😂 He had a shocking afternoon

First back to back wins since November when we beat Brentford 2-1 followed by beating Forest 2-0. Funny how football works sometimes.

@NFFC MGW quite literally the only starter who can hold his head up. Absolutely disheartening performance. Anyone who thinks West Ham is going down is fooling themselves. Would kill for the fight that team has.

Next step Arsenal. Become the league's darlings by finalising the bottle job and then we push on for europe.
What's that? We barely scraped past an utterly abysmal Nottingham Forest? Irrelevant, we're going back to Athens.

This is the culmination of all the bullshit coming to a head. Trying to speed run success and over spending, managerial merry go round, plus a lack of quality meaning we can’t rotate enough players between the league and Europe.
