How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

Captivating Talking Points
@LFC Mohamed Salah has now scored 108 Premier League goals at Anfield with only Thierry Henry (114 at Highbury) netting more at a single venue in the competition's history. 👑

Should be same starting 11 against PSG but Ekitike instead of Gakpo. If Jones isn't healthy I guess Macca and Szobo.
Believer
To be fair to Gakpo he's running his lungs out pressing that backline, it's what Nunez used to do and what we've missed
Yo what's wrong with Grav? Bro seems devoid of energy and drive. Two things that made him great last season. Almost feel like he's half assing it/phoning it in so to speak? Hence imo he seems out of sync/ half step behind on everything. Him and Macca been doo doo this season.

Guardiola actually had chances to overtake them multiple times earlier this season but City has been crazy inconsistent
Believer
He is not even bad he just was scoring 30 goals per season. If he plays like an average right winger, people say he is playing badly.
Again proving my point lmao, Frimpong “created” it by winning the ball back but Wirtz didn’t for actually playing the pass into Salah. Flawless logic on display again.
I’ve literally gave you multiple examples and you just move the goalposts proving my point once again that you’ve got an agenda ahahaha.

@Oyskalh @LFC He’s literally always had the quality and gakpo is shit and useless every game. Only took 32 games for slot to actually let Rio start a meaningful game
Believer
He literally never picks the right option
Gakpo is so much more useful in a striker/CF role than a winger. He’s almost been in a false 9 role for a lot of this match

@tjblushes @LFC Liverpool 2-0 Fulham at half-time. Mo Salah scored the 2nd goal (40', assisted by Gakpo).
He's now on 6 PL goals this season (22 starts, 6 assists).

@LFC Mo Salah has done it again 😭⚽. At this point defenders don’t mark him, they just watch history happen live.” https://t.co/wtwxrOBUoR
He just cannot help himself. Macca should be nowhere near this team with how he’s been playing.
Let Wirtz play with an actual striker but no, instead he keeps on Gakpo
@AbuJaan123 @LFC Rooney was barely playing as striker from 2014/2015 to 2017/2018 but still scored a lot of goals as a midfielder
Great to be in 2-0 and we created a decent amount.
Honestly refreshing not having Gravenberch and Macca playing today
What a goal from Rio.
We look better offensively when Robertson is on the pitch at LB. Much more organised and more direct.
Take Rio and max dowman as bolters to the WC. The rest of our forwards bar Harry Kane looking drab..let's allow the youngsters a go. Best rooney ever played was his first england tournament. The youngsters don't understand the pressure yet..😊
I am by no means a fan off Gakpo but I totally agree that Grav & Macca seem to be the root of our control and energy issues.
Good move all around. Macca winning the ball, Salah with a nice pass, and Gakpo with a shot.

Macca looks like he’s cosplaying Adam Wharton
Should be same starting 11 against PSG but Ekitike instead of Gakpo. If Jones isn't healthy I guess Macca and Szobo.

To be fair to Gakpo he's running his lungs out pressing that backline, it's what Nunez used to do and what we've missed
3 times in a row isak was in a good position in the box, all gakpo had to do was square it to him and every time it was a poor pass
Rio Ngumoha and Andy Robertson spoke about the satisfaction from our 2-0 win over Fulham 💬
I actually think that Salah is going to destroy whatever league he goes to next. The main thing holding him back rn is his mentality. He just second guesses himself constantly now. If he scores a few goals in Italy though he'll be 90% back to his old self.

◆ Broke Through — Quality That Beat the Algorithm
@LFC Mohamed Salah has now scored 108 Premier League goals at Anfield with only Thierry Henry (114 at Highbury) netting more at a single venue in the competition's history. 👑
gakpo should do a linkedin post about how u always get a new chance in life, even if u are always making the wrong decisions
Gakpo is so much more useful in a striker/CF role than a winger. He’s almost been in a false 9 role for a lot of this match
He finally drops Macca and Grav who have been having stinker after stinker and we're moving the ball a lot quicker in the middle from back to front...wild
Ekitike must be fuming. Finally got frimpong + rio creating, no passengers in macca and grav killing the creativity, and he gets benched lmao

The neutral, slightly negative sentiment reflects frustration at the performance against Fulham rather than celebration of the win itself.
Liverpool Fans Divided on Slot's Youth Selection Gamble
Controversial
Supporters are split on whether manager Arne Slot deserves credit for finally backing young talent like Rio Ngumoha, or criticism for stubbornly refusing to develop academy players consistently throughout the season. Liverpool's Narrow Victory Sparks Season Salvation Debate
Emerging

Emerging
Liverpool and Fulham supporters are having a relaxed, largely unbothered discussion about a player's TikTok dance celebration during the match, with most fans dismissing it as harmless fun from a young player rather than anything worth getting worked up about. Beautiful goals from Mohamed Salah (40') and Rio Ngumoha (36') give Liverpool a comfortable 2-0 lead against Fulham.

Actually played 2 CMS who know what a double pivot is, makes a huge difference.
When an attack breaks down Jones or Dom are Infront of the CB's not on the edge of the oppo box
I just hope Slot gets him a start against PSG!
Having 2 wingers that require multiple defenders creates space, opens up the whole attack.
IF they can hold onto him… and not piss him off or injure him by screwing up his training .. he could be the lynchpin of a new potent offense.
Yeah we need our wingers to play well to win. Who would've thunk. Both left and right wing need bolstering.
we also seem to be running at people/closing them down. it's been overall far less dire of a watch. I'm a lot happier seeing a higher tempo, it just suits the squad.

I think "a ton" of chances overcooks it quite a bit - they had a few, and none that were absolutely Grade A except for the Smith-Rowe chance, that I can remember.
We looked significantly better than we've looked in months. Nobodys saying this is where things turn around and we kick on but its a big lift, the most important thing is we played well and it was good to watch again. Not a bad thing to enjoy that
Gravenberch for Curtis completely killed the midfield. Dom and Curtis were aggressive off the ball and progressive on it, Gravenberch was invisible. Gravenberch's form the past few months is one the less spoken, but imo, main reasons why we've struggled to control the midfield.
↳
he had those first few really good months under slot and then regressed to his usual self
↳
he's been utterly dreadful basically all season. His agent is generational tbf
↳
That's a bit dramatic, he was exceptional last season but struggled this season as has most of the team.
↳
Because he insists on being an attacking 8 and started to not give a fuck about his defensive obligations. He's now gone from a massive asset to a massive liability and Slot is also a problem for letting it happen.
When Grav was playing more in the pivot facing our back line and giving an option out, it allowed other passes to be played out and gave more options. It also let us play directly into him and him spin off and progress or pass the ball around the corner to open up play.
Now he just doesn't care and he's been allowed to get away with it leaving us with massive problems in our build up play and also massive gaps out of possession to the point it even looks like we don't even have a fucking midfield at times.
↳
This is 100% spot on. He also looks so nonchalant when chasing the ball and opponent - and not in a good way.
↳
He really needs to start taking pride defensively there’s no need for him to regress in that regard
Only ever goes one way that doesn’t it?
If we took our chances we’d have had about 7.
"I’m becoming more and more convinced Wirtz isn’t a 10 "
"I’m becoming more and more convinced Wirtz isn’t a 10 "
All this shows us os furthermore how we have the wrong man in charge.
Wirtz, frimpong, isak and Rio will smash it under Alonso next season.
Ok?
He did win the BuLi unbeaten playing as a 10…
↳
(also, player of the season award)
↳
Tbh he wasn't playing as a 10 per se. Leverkusen were playing a 5-2-2-1 / 3-4-2-1 formation, and Wirtz was one of the 2 players playing behind the striker.
↳
I watched several matches of Leverkusen. He was playing in midfield with a lot of freedom to basically do his thing. That, for me, is a 10 role. A creator with freedom of movement.
↳
Well, then you could also call Grimaldo a 10 with the way Leverkusen played.
It's a matter if perspective I guess.
↳
His position was as a 10. His role was as a 10. Grimaldo was very creative, but clearly a different role. In fact, they would finish their setup almost the same as Liverpool would, with a 3-2-5 with Wirtz inside as a 10 with and Adli or Hoffman by his side, Frimpong and Grimaldo wide and Schick/Boniface up front.
Rings a bell, right? It's almost the same setup as Liverpool, with Szoboszlai and Wirtz as 10 inside, a winger on the right, a winger on the left (instead of a LB/WB like Grimaldo providing width) and a striker up front.
↳
That is wrong, Grimaldo was center and even to the right as much as he was wide left with Wirtz replacing him in the left wing actually.
Grimaldo's job on the left was completely different to Frimpong on the right.
He was a playmaker as much as Wirtz was in that side. Much of Wirtz's action in that Leverkusen side came from the left.
Liverpool's setup in absolutely different.
↳
Highly suggest you check Grimaldo's heat map in 23/24 and 24/25, mate. He was never on the right and yes, he was a playmaker who woudl cut inside sometimes, but always from the left. Maybe you are talking about someone else.
You might be talking about dynamics, I'm talking about positions. Alonso would always attack in a 3-2-5, which is basically the same of most matches at Liverpool. Wirtz would have the same role. Dynamics are different because players are different, but the positions are very similar, especially the Wirtz role.

Really happy with the first half, less so with the second.
Either way it's really fucking important that we won, and If City can do their job tomorrow we'll actually have a bit of space.

I believe Slot subbing off Rio was due to the defensive work needed on the left side. Once Gakpo switched to left side, he covered a lot of ground to help out Robertson. I don't think Slot will start Rio against PSG.

Well Rio sometimes goes outside so the defender is always guessing...
But tbf to Cody, he controlled a difficult ball and assisted Mo for the 2nd, hope he finds his place as a #9, because he does not seem to have the speed or skill to be a winger
