How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

I think so… although to save on the £750k maybe we are better off rebuilding the recruitment team, our recruitment is so hit and miss sometimes for players. Maybe if we bought some dramatic players like Tonali/Bruno/Joelinton we’d win more fouls as well?

This isn't an Eddie Howe defense in the slightest, but does changing the manager fix the mentality problem of the players on the pitch? The nearly weekly kick in the bollocks late goal came and their heads went to fucking Jupiter, panicking again, piss poor defending and goalkeeping giving away a late goal, again. I cant be certain, but there's no way that's a manager instruction.

I don't think Murphy played bad, he did what he does. But we should be past that point now. Joelinton played really well, I really like him, but with him on LW we have no quality on either wing, so it all goes down the middle.

@JamesHa11783 @NUFC What's wrong with hall? And the line up? Thought they're playing very well
@NUFC nick bruno and hall nd tonali look like the only fuckas actually bothered as soon as nick is in the squad there’s more chances created but osula is actually fucking woefully bad all he does is sprint step over fall over he’s fucking shite
@Jayden7i @liamb0402 @NUFC Considering woltemade has been awful? Maybe thats whats wrong? Everyone creamin their knickers at him startin and he's done nowt but lose possession. Osula on the other hand hassling defenders and getting shots off
@NFFC Some poor passing but also some ok play Bakwa actually looking good and a left footer Netz some good spells hopefully goals in 2nd half and less giving possession to Newcastle
@NUFC Cheers lads I always think it cant get worse and you prove me wrong impressive stuff 👏
@McqueGeno @james1508 @NUFC So we can’t criticise a fan’s favourite for pulling out of a tackle without people slaughtering Burn when he had nothing to do with the goal. WTF is wrong with some of us. Hall is class but he needs to improve defensively. End of!

I think Woltemade needs to leave in the Summer. I'm not blaming him for today's performance, our issues are much bigger than one player, but I think today was a struggle for him and summed up why it might be best for him to move on.

Are they smoking something at Sky Sports? What European hopes are they referring to?
We actually should be well clear of them with the chances we've had.
Least now surely commentators can stop mentioning Europe. Like it's not going to happen.
Something severely wrong with this team
I wonder what's going to happen with the manager? Don't get me wrong, Vitor has done well but let's not forget how the wheels eventually fell off at Wolves.
I think we need to make a move for Silva or Iraola if the rumours are true he's being lined up at Palace.
I've had a go at Bakwa in the past precisely because he didn't seem to putting any effort in, and didn't even look like a footballer, but he's done OK recently (not great, but OK). Morato has actually been good recently, not fantastic, but good. Neither of them will ever be starters, but you need a squad.
It's not easy, but quick one touch passing without hesitation is one way. Some of our players like to take their time, particularly at the back. Sangare is good at bypassing the high press imo, that's why he is such a big miss for is at the moment.
It would help if big T could get the ball to stick a bit more today as well. There's a lot of space …
Pope has actually had a solid match today. Couple of fuck ups here and there but few big saves as well
◆ Broke Through — Quality That Beat the Algorithm
Lewis Hall out of position in at RB just so Burn can play. I’m Eddie in but fk me his love affair with playing his favourites no matter what can get in the bin.
What’s wrong with playing Trippier RB and Hall LB?
Yeah I think this post captures exactly how I feel.
I don't think Murphy played bad, he did what he does. But we should be past that point now. Joelinton played really well, I really like him, but with him on LW we have no quality on either wing, so it all goes down the middle…
You often see that commentators prepare a whole stat pack for games. Seb Hutchinson's is one sentence that says 'Elliot Anderson used to play for Newcastle'.
Wolves: GOAL
Bournemouth: nothing
Arsenal: GOAL
Forest: GOAL
Brighton: GOAL
Fulham: nothing
West ham: nothing
Brighton: nothing
City: nothing
Everton GOAL
Spurs: ASSIST
S*nderland: nothing
Chelsea: GOAL GOAL
Man U: nothing
Then he was dropped.
There was a couple of games wi…
I said in the match thread. I honestly wasn't a fan of his transfer, and he just insulted that dislike with following performances. Genuinely happy to say that he's starting to prove me wrong.

Emerging
Controversial
Forest and Newcastle supporters are locked in debate over a midfielder's actual quality, with some arguing he leads Premier League metrics whilst others criticise his concentration lapses, positioning problems, and inability to maintain consistency across ninety minutes. Nottingham Forest supporters are split on prospect Bakwa's performance in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle, with some praising his creative play and directness whilst others criticise his showboating and decision-making on the ball. The discussion captures the tension of a side fighting relegation where even individual errors or poor form become collectively agonising to watch.
Forest Fans Lament Absences in Defensive Structure
Controversial
Nottingham Forest supporters are frustrated with their team's vulnerability to high pressing, blaming the absence of key defensive and ball-progressing players like Sangaré and Murillo who would normally help break opposition press. The discussion reveals deeper concern about squad depth and the challenge of maintaining their goalscoring form if further departures occur during the transfer window.
Newcastle Fans Divided Over Nick Pope's Display
Emerging
Controversial
Newcastle supporters are split on goalkeeper Nick Pope's performance during the 1-1 draw, with some praising his crucial saves whilst others criticise his positioning and decision-making, particularly regarding Elliot Anderson's late equaliser. Emerging

Newcastle Fans Divided Over Eddie Howe's Future and Squad Direction
Emerging
Controversial
Newcastle supporters are locked in a contentious debate about whether manager Eddie Howe deserves continued backing after another underwhelming season, with some defending his recruitment efforts and squad-building constraints whilst others demand his sacking, citing tactical errors and a repeating cycle of mid-table mediocrity. The discussion hinges on whether Howe's lack of power in the transfer market excuses the club's 13th-place finish, or whether a managerial change could unlock a squad that fans believe is capable of competing for European football.
Forest Fans Slam Yates as Dirty, Unlikeable Midfielder
Nottingham Forest supporters have launched a sustained critique of Ryan Yates following his yellow card in the 54th minute, with the discussion centring on his aggressive, physical approach to play and his perceived reputation as an antagonist on the pitch. The negativity reflects a broader frustration with what fans view as his reckless behaviour and combative mentality during matches.
Newcastle Facing Summer Exodus as Squad Overhaul Looms
Emerging
Newcastle supporters are grappling with the reality that key players like Hall, Tonali and Gordon will likely depart in the summer transfer window, forcing the club into an expensive and risky rebuild. Frustration centres on the club's poor recruitment record this season—with numerous signings flopping—and anxiety that Saudi backing may be wavering, leaving Newcastle vulnerable to a damaging fire sale.
Nottingham Forest Secure Safety as Pereira Earns Praise
Emerging
Controversial
Nottingham Forest fans are celebrating their Premier League survival after a 1-1 draw with Newcastle, with the focus squarely on manager Vítor Pereira's impact in rescuing the club from a dire position under previous managers. The overwhelming sentiment is gratitude for staying up and optimism about next season under Pereira's leadership.
Newcastle Fans Dissect Woltemade's Positional Crisis
Emerging
Controversial
Newcastle supporters are overwhelmingly critical of Nick Woltemade's display against Nottingham Forest, with the discussion centring on his inability to perform effectively in multiple positions — whether deployed as a centre-forward, number ten, or midfielder. Fans argue that his lack of physicality, defensive capability, and technical consistency means tactical flexibility cannot mask a deeper quality issue, though some credit Eddie Howe for making the right substitution call.
Newcastle Fans Question Bruno's Physical Condition
Emerging
Controversial
Newcastle supporters are heavily debating whether Bruno was physically capable of continuing during the 1-1 draw, with multiple fans noting he appeared to be struggling to run and walk, whilst others defend him and point to his missed chances as equally responsible for the dropped points. The discussion centres on Eddie Howe's team selection and substitution decisions, with fans divided on whether Bruno should have been withdrawn earlier or given more support.
Forest Fans Turn on Morato After Goalmouth Gaffe
Emerging
Nottingham Forest supporters have erupted in frustration at defender Morato following what appears to be a costly error or inexplicable decision-making moment during the match, with fans questioning his basic footballing intelligence despite occasional recent improvements. The negativity centres on Morato's inconsistency—he shows flashes of competence, then undermines himself with baffling lapses in either positioning, passing, or situational awareness that directly affect the team's ability to defend or build from the back.
Newcastle Fans Slam Dan Burn's Defensive Liability
Newcastle supporters are heavily criticising Dan Burn's performance and broader deployment at left-back against Forest, with many arguing he lacks the pace, positioning, and technical ability to defend at Premier League level. The frustration extends to Eddie Howe's tactical choices, particularly the decision to play Lewis Hall out of position at right-back whilst Burn continues a streak without a clean sheet since October.
Referee Under Fire Over Controversial Penalty Call
Emerging
Fans are heavily divided over whether a foul should have been awarded in a match involving goalkeeper David Raya, with many arguing it met the standard for a routine penalty whilst others counter that Arsenal players were themselves committing fouls in the same incident. The discussion reflects broader frustration with inconsistent refereeing standards and suggestions that league politics may influence officiating decisions.
Forest's Left Flank Development Shows Promise for Next Season
Fans are analysing Nottingham Forest's wing and full-back options after the draw with Newcastle, with particular praise for Luca Netz's defensive display and growing confidence in academy prospects like Bakwa, Hutchinson, and McAtee, whilst debating whether fringe players like Ndoye should move on and how to best deploy attacking talent across the formation.
Newcastle Fans Turn on Eddie Howe After Draw
Emerging
A significant portion of Newcastle supporters are calling for Eddie Howe's immediate sacking following the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, citing a pattern of squandering winning positions and claiming the club has thrown away 27 points from winning situations this season. The discussion reflects broader frustration with the manager's tactical decisions and squad selection, with some fans arguing that achieving the club's stated ambition of being elite by 2030 requires replacing him with a world-class manager.
Nottingham Forest Fans Debate Vítor Pereira's Future After Late Draw
Emerging
Controversial
Forest supporters are cautiously backing manager Vítor Pereira after his steady start since February, but remain uncertain whether he is the long-term solution, with some praising his work whilst others worry about his track record at previous clubs and question whether the club should be planning for alternatives. The consensus centres on the idea that squad strengthening is crucial to any manager's success, and that judging Pereira fairly is difficult without proper backing in the transfer market.
Newcastle Fans Divided Over Murphy's Right Wing Tactics
Newcastle supporters are split on midfielder Jacob Murphy's performance on the right flank, with some praising his creativity and crosses whilst others criticise his tendency to cut inside rather than hugging the touchline, and questioning whether Nick Woltemade offers enough as an attacking outlet. Emerging

Forest and Newcastle Draw in Defensive Stalemate
Emerging
Controversial
Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United played out a goalless draw that was decided late when Harvey Barnes gave Forest the lead in the 74th minute, only for Elliot Anderson to equalise for Newcastle in the 88th minute. The match remained tightly contested throughout, with both sides picking up yellow cards but neither able to secure a decisive advantage in a low-scoring encounter.
Newcastle Fans Praise Joelinton's Physicality Amid Tonali Debate

Newcastle supporters lauded Joelinton's dominant midfield performance as he bulldozed through Forest's defence, whilst simultaneously debating midfielder Sander Tonali's physical fragility and pressing intensity, with fans joking that he goes down too easily despite showing some quality distribution in the draw.

Controversial
Newcastle supporters are frustrated after squandering a chance to climb the table with a late 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, with fans criticising their inability to convert dominance into victory and lamenting dropped points from winning positions. Forest and Newcastle Fans Debate Tactical Formations
Emerging
Controversial
Supporters are dissecting the defensive setup choices made by both managers, with Nottingham Forest fans particularly frustrated by Vítor Pereira's shift away from a five-man defence despite its earlier success, whilst discussing personnel issues—injuries, missing pace in the squad, and the need for quicker ball circulation from the back to break press. Newcastle fans are similarly questioning Eddie Howe's tactical decisions and formation switches.

Fans Dissect Controversial Late Equaliser Call
Emerging

The divided reaction reveals genuine uncertainty about the officials' decision to allow Newcastle's dramatic leveller.
Forest Fans Celebrate Survival as Drama Unfolds
Emerging
Controversial
Nottingham Forest supporters are jubilant after confirmation that their club has secured Premier League survival, with the 1-1 draw against Newcastle providing the final piece of the relegation puzzle. Geordies Hail "Maradona" After Late Equaliser
Emerging
Newcastle supporters are celebrating Elliot Anderson's 88th-minute equaliser with affectionate tributes, repeatedly calling him their "Geordie Maradona" whilst simultaneously acknowledging his Geordie roots and praising the mutual respect shown between the two sets of fans. The discussion captures a moment where Newcastle fans, despite conceding late, recognised the quality of Anderson's finish and applauded the player's local heritage and character.
Newcastle Fans Dissect Lewis Hall's Late Defensive Lapse
Following Elliot Anderson's equaliser in the 88th minute, Newcastle supporters are intensely debating goalkeeper Lewis Hall's culpability for the goal, with opinion sharply divided between those who blame him for failing to anticipate or block the shot and those who argue he had limited options and shouldn't bear sole responsibility. The discussion highlights Hall's defensive vulnerabilities this season whilst acknowledging some solid moments in his overall performance.
West Ham's Relegation Reprieve Sparks Season Review
Emerging
West Ham supporters are celebrating survival after what they perceive as a narrow escape from the drop, with neutral fans using the result to criticise Newcastle and Aston Villa's underperformance despite their higher ambitions. The discussion reflects relief at securing safety rather than optimism about the campaign, with fans already pivoting to demands for genuine improvement next season.
Newcastle Fans Back Ramsey for More Regular Starting Roles
Emerging
Newcastle supporters are clamouring for Aaron Ramsey to get significantly more playing time, with many convinced he's become a pivotal creative force capable of unlocking defences from the number ten position. The consensus is that if he stays fit, Ramsey could be transformative for the club next season, having already impressed since January and particularly in recent appearances off the bench.
Newcastle's Damning Record of Squandered Winning Positions
Emerging
Newcastle supporters are in disbelief over the club's catastrophic inability to hold onto leads, with fans calculating that the Magpies have now dropped 27 points from winning positions this season—potentially breaking the Premier League record for such collapses. The draw against Nottingham Forest epitomises a pattern of self-sabotage that has cost the club dearly in their top-four ambitions, with some fans suggesting they may have already surpassed the club's own worst record from 2004/05.
Debate Over Player's Recent Form Improvement
Fans are split on whether a squad player has genuinely improved in recent weeks or if his earlier-season struggles justify continued criticism, with some arguing his recent performances have been solid whilst others insist his prior form was poor enough to warrant his earlier omission from the side.
Nottingham Forest and Newcastle Fans Split on Player Form
Controversial
Supporters are divided over a player's performance in the 1-1 draw, with some defending his contribution as a key reason the team isn't in a relegation battle, while others criticise him sharply for an inconsistent display against Newcastle. The discussion reflects broader frustration with inconsistency rather than consensus about whether he's genuinely performing or merely benefiting from low expectations.

CLOSE! The ball breaks for Bruno at the edge of the box and his shot goes through Sels and almost trickles over the line but Forest clear. Bruno then gets another opportunity but Sels denies him.
Keep pushing, lads!

Maybe we need a Wissa or Barnes in attack too to give him proper runners instead of Murphy."

He's had an ok game, some good moments, some bad, while I don't agree with the position he's playing, we've looked a lot more fluid in this match then we have recently. Bruno's had an odd game, seems to have given a lot of testers to people, a few of those passes with a bit less oomph on them could have created a chance or 2"

We barely created anything today, again. 1.5 on xG, 1.4 xG on target. Against relegation candidate, who had a game few days ago.... They are also missing their best player, MGW.
Overall, I agree. We played well but nobody will be able to explain to me why Osula came off for Wissa. Osula could’ve done better with his biggest chance but he looked dangerous, had a class free kick and in comparison Wissa did nothing.

Right, but this is a post-match thread on a forum for fans to discuss the game?
Whilst I broadly agree, I thought we were poor in the first half. Much better for longer periods in the second half but let’s not kid ourselves we dominated the whole game. That’s blatantly not correct.
I've just said similar in another comment.
In isolation, a good-ish performance not quite getting the result we wanted.
Some aren't seeing it in isolation though. Definitely recurring problems from earlier in the season.
Fan fiction in support of Howe. Well done lads.
Overall, a point is probably a fair result. Same thoughts as a commenter below, where Trippier ought to get in earlier and that might have prevented the goal. Both were quiet, but Wolte and Osula are the future and am glad they each played meaningful minutes today.
if all of this happened then how did we lose the game to relgations candidates who have had 3 managers this season and are missing their best attacking player? table doesnt lie. if you lose 27 points from winning position it is who we are not some one time fluke like you are trying to paint it as
"I'm not quite ready to get on the Iraola train yet, but i am solemnly packing my trilby and saying goodbye to my imaginary wife."
"I'm not quite ready to get on the Iraola train yet, but i am solemnly packing my trilby and saying goodbye to my imaginary wife."
Iraola is a sideways move and has proven nothing above what Howe has managed.
↳
Then bring back Rafa. Howe has proven nothing above him.
↳
Such a Reddit reply. It’s like me saying I like Pizza and then you turning around and saying i must therefore hate pasta.
↳
Iraola in charge this season has us in 3rd by the way.
↳
That’s a good hypothetical.
↳
Bournemouth 18 games unbeaten right now.
Have we ever had that level form in the Howe era? Also Bournemouth seem to be playing exciting attacking football.
↳
They went 10 games or something without a win as well, went out of both cups early and have a manager with no European experience.
Iraola is a backwards step, Eddie is trying to adapt to 3 games a week, Iraola takes us back to how we were 4 years ago.
↳
Those 10 games were mostly draws and he now has them on one of the best unbeaten runs in Europe.
After watching Howe since the final, you have to be a pretty bad manager to be a backward step.
↳
Iraloa gets us one good season and then back where we are as his methods break down with a European schedule, something Howe is learning to adapt to.
↳
Learning? When? How? Please enlighten me?
"Anderson been unbelievable this season, must start for England at the World Cup!"
"Anderson been unbelievable this season, must start for England at the World Cup!"
I just don't get the hype. Never rated him that highly at Newcastle, and never thought he was anywhere near a £35M player for us after his 55 appearances in the black and white stripes.
@Bazooka183😂
@Bazooka183 if you’re judging him from how he played at Newcastle then you shouldn’t even be discussing this, he was a teenager.
@ForestFanEditsAye, and he obviously was nowhere near the player he must now be for Forest. If he is so highly rated he must be doing something right, but everytime I watch him he seems pedestrian and one paced.
He's had a poor season to be honest. Had an ok second half today
@Bazooka183I've watched every single forest game this season and he rarely has a bad game. Check his statistics, also his performances for England.
@Bazooka183 people change 🙏
@Bazooka183he's not that good. Mehdi Abeid is better
Yes he scored but was nowt flash today
@CurtHennig6Now he was shite 😂
"We needed 3 points to have a chance at Europe and he switched us to a back 5 to try and keep an "unbeaten run" for the backstretch of the season to strengthen his position to stay...
Eddie Howe just "
"We needed 3 points to have a chance at Europe and he switched us to a back 5 to try and keep an "unbeaten run" for the backstretch of the season to strengthen his position to stay...
Eddie Howe just "
He switched to a back 5 as Forest looked like they would get a second and we were already into stoppage time.
↳
You'd argue black is white at this stage. Every poor game you sit on your high horse with an answer to everything. I'm now sick of your shit.
↳
So another game he lost control of?
↳
Right. But a draw was pointless... It means fuck all. A win meant something. A win meant we might still have something to play for.
It's fucking cowardly. It's the exact same thing we HATED Steve Bruce for...
↳
No, we hated Bruce for being a dinosaur with no idea how football works, and for being both ex-Man U and ex-Sunderland.
Going 5 at the back for 4 minutes didn't stop us winning, that was Osula and Bruno forgetting how to score.
↳
You’ve seen Howe this season, and you don’t think he’s a dinosaur? All he wants is a traditional forward and fast wingers, he struggles to work with players who have technical ability. That’s about as close to a dinosaur as you’ll ever find.
↳
Always the players... It's never his fault...
↳
16 shots, 3 big chances,54% possession.
Eddie got it right today. We were the better side and should have won.
↳
They had 17 shots...
And with just a 0.35XG difference between the teams. A draw was a fair as fuck result. We didn't do nearly enough, not nearly enough to be able to say we "should win it"
He was willing to go to a back 5... Why not when we were holding onto a lead and under pressure? The player who I'm sure will get blame in Hall, was playing out of position despite us having a RB on the bench who is fit... Gordon, arguably our best attacker, apparently fit and yet doesn't get a minute...
I don't even have the energy for this anymore... I have no hope for our future if he stays.
↳
Well, by all accounts he is staying, so feel free to leave.
"Don't think Forest deserved that leveller, but we were not much better. No more Hall at RB please. Bizarre team selection yet again. "
"Don't think Forest deserved that leveller, but we were not much better. No more Hall at RB please. Bizarre team selection yet again. "
Who gonna play RB?
↳
Shahar, at least worth finding out how badly we need a new RB before transfer window
↳
I dont disagree, but Howe has shown he doesnt like playing young players in these situations. Maybe now that we're safe, he will, but I doubt it.
↳
Trippier?
↳
Trippier, who has been ass?
↳
Trippiers been fine considering his minutes this season
↳
Also a right back, so is the youth team player of the season Schar that never gets a look in. Would love Trippier at right back rather than playing players out of position.
dont think we deserved 3 points either
Eddie playing his favourites. Again.
↳
Hall has to play RB so Big Dan Cunting Burn can play.

But isn’t the lack of quality the point? We’ve lacked the quality to put away games all season, this being yet another one.
