How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

sadiki wouldn’t be a bad shout in midfield. Also mcguire has the turning radius of a cruise ship. Man utd give the ball away more than any other team I watch, messing up simple passes. I counted maybe 2/3 for sunderland the whole game and maybe between10/15 for us, absolutely baffling. Also why is Man U the only team that plays attacking mids as #6? didn’t work with bruno, def didn’t work with mount.Don’t see arsenal playing odegaard there, why do we think it will work for us? I’d give Amad, zirkzee and mount 2/10 today

@ManUtd Witth all credibility I can say Mason Mount is a fraud... Typical British overhyped player, overpaid player he should drop the iconic number 7 immediately... Board should swap him for Alex Scott...
There something very disingenuous about this guy
Martinez definitely hits Brobbey in the face, but I'm going to give benefit of the doubt that that was an unintentional stray arm and not just throwing stuff with intent. Any contact was also pretty light.
People are attacking Zirk but his holdup play, one touches and linking with the midfield were all solid.

Then rotate Maguire if you want to start Lisandro. To me, heaven was the wrong one to rotate.
◆ Algo-Amplified — Boosted Without Substance
Konate had no intent to play the ball and got our striker injured. Today someone intentionally hit Bruno in the head and nothing happened. Actual violent conduct goes unnoticed.
Petty as fuck, but these referees deserve every single bit of abuse they receive. Just don't be a shit cunt.
Dorgu changed the game IMO. Mbeumo as well but Dorgu had the higher impact. Still laughing at Cunha seeing the ghost of Sesko and passing to him instead of shooting.
It was a dead rubber with a rotated team. People whining like it matters at all.
Licha grew into the game much more in the second half after looking like he hadn't played in 5 years in the first. Clean sheet is always good. Mount getting 90+ mins in the Prem is good as well. Still not sure what his best position is though
5' Chance! Talbi plays a give and go with Le Fee, then whips the shot at Lammens' net. Just wide.
19' Le Fee with two shots striking the arms of Mainoo and Amad. VAR checked and cleared no penalty.
Between the commentators, ref, the game, just miserable football, Cunha especially in those last few moments was shocking, just shoot the ball
◆ Broke Through — Quality That Beat the Algorithm

Fan Narratives
Manchester United Fans Turn on Zirkzee After Goalless Draw
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are using the 0-0 stalemate against Sunderland to pile criticism on striker Joshua Zirkzee, with many declaring him not good enough for the club and demanding his departure in the summer transfer window. The discourse extends to wider squad frustrations—particularly Mason Mount's continued struggles and tactical questions about how manager Michael Carrick is deploying his attacking players—with fans arguing the entire team underperformed in possession and should have dominated a side sitting 12th in the table.
Sunderland and United Divided Over Deserving a Win
Emerging
Controversial
Sunderland fans are split between feeling they should have won after a strong performance, whilst Manchester United supporters are conflicted—some frustrated at dropped points despite an uninspiring display, others accepting the draw as a reasonable result given squad rotation and rust among key players. Both sets of supporters struggle to feel genuinely aggrieved at a goalless stalemate, though the underlying narrative is one of mutual underperformance masking what could have been a victory for either side.
United Fan's Haircut Bet Goes Down the Drain
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are mocking a viral bet where a fan promised not to get a haircut until United won a trophy — a wager that looks increasingly unlikely given their current form and league position. The 0-0 draw against Sunderland has become the latest symbol of their inability to close out matches and push for silverware, leaving the unfortunate bettor facing months more of unkempt hair.
Sunderland and Manchester United Draw Amid Neutral Reception
Emerging
Fans engaged in a sprawling 71-post discussion about referee decisions during the 0-0 stalemate, with largely dismissive and fragmented reactions suggesting little consensus emerged about any particular officiating controversy. The low sentiment score and pattern of one-word responses indicate apathy dominated the discourse — most supporters simply didn't care enough about the yellow cards shown to Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee to sustain meaningful debate.
Luke Shaw Penalty Controversy Divides Fans
Emerging
Manchester United fans are split over Luke Shaw's defensive display and a contentious refereeing decision in the box, with some arguing he committed a clear holding foul on a Sunderland attacker that should have been penalised as a penalty, whilst others defend his world-class defending. The incident has sparked heated debate about whether the referee missed a stonewall penalty or correctly allowed play to continue.
Mainoo's Midfield Role Divides Manchester United Fans
United supporters are fiercely debating Kobbie Mainoo's midfield credentials in a goalless draw with Sunderland, with opinion split between those who see him as a calming, essential presence and those who believe he lacks the positional discipline to function without a dedicated defensive partner like Casemiro. The broader consensus leans toward needing significant summer midfield recruitment, but Mainoo's status as an untouchable fan favourite—particularly after a recent good run of form—is driving scepticism about whether the club should build long-term plans around a 21-year-old whose partnerships with Mount and Bruno have repeatedly misfired.
Manchester United Fans Turn on Mount After Goalless Draw
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are heavily criticising Mason Mount's performance in the 0-0 draw with Sunderland, with many questioning whether he has a future at the club under Michael Carrick's system. Fans argue he doesn't fit the current tactical setup, citing his injury record and wages as additional concerns, with several calling for his departure in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United Fans Question Lisandro Martínez Depth
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are heavily debating Lisandro Martínez's future at the club, with many arguing his injury record, rustiness, and inconsistent decision-making in possession mean younger centre-back Leny Yoro and emerging talent Heaven (likely Leny Yoro's partner) should be prioritised going forward. There's growing consensus that United should consider selling Martínez and investing in fresh centre-back depth rather than relying on him as a key player next season, particularly with an expanded fixture list ahead.
Manchester United Fans Vent Over Toothless Midfield Display
Emerging
Manchester United supporters expressed frustration during the goalless draw, with criticism focused on the team's inability to break down Sunderland despite dominating possession. Fans across multiple languages lamented poor passing in midfield, lack of clinical finishing, and the overall mediocrity of the performance—with particular disappointment that Bruno Fernandes couldn't add to his assist tally.
Manchester United's Casemiro Problem Exposed in Sunderland Stalemate
Emerging
Manchester United fans are expressing serious concern about their midfield balance and creative output following a goalless draw against Sunderland, with the absence of defensive midfielder Casemiro blamed for exposing the team's structural vulnerability—and raising urgent questions about whether manager Michael Carrick has adequate cover and reinforcements for next season. The broader anxiety centres on whether the club can compete effectively if they fail to sign adequate midfield replacements, with Casemiro's absence starkly revealing their reliance on him to enable attacking play through Bruno and their number 8.
Fans Furious at Atwell's Controversial Refereeing Display
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are incensed at Stuart Atwell's performance, believing he missed a clear red card incident early in the match and made other poor decisions, with several calling for his removal from future games involving their club. The anger is compounded by frustrations over Atwell's involvement in previous contentious decisions against United this season, leading fans to question PGMOL's appointment practices.
Fans Slam Referee Performance in Goalless Draw
Emerging
Supporters across both sides are heavily criticising the officiating during Sunderland's 0-0 draw with Manchester United, with particular anger directed at decisions that allegedly favoured the visitors. The discussion extends to broader concerns about VAR consistency and suggestions that referees are manufacturing a competitive title race through biased decision-making.
Manchester United Fans Debate Dorgu's Impact and Best Position
Emerging
Controversial
Manchester United supporters are divided over Patrick Dorgu's performance and tactical role after his substitute appearance, with some praising his directness and athleticism as a genuine game-changer, whilst others critique his positioning and argue he's being misused as a left winger rather than his natural wingback role. The discussion reflects broader frustration with United's attacking personnel and tactical setup, though there's emerging consensus that Dorgu brought genuine attacking threat when introduced.
Manchester United's Midfield Crisis Exposed Again
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are heavily criticising their midfield's complete lack of control and physicality in the 0-0 draw, arguing the side gets "run through" every game due to absent defensive options and tactical deficiencies. The consensus is damning: fans see echoes of the old Ten Hag problems returning under Carrick, with calls for urgent January reinforcements across multiple midfield positions.
Manchester United's Inconsistent Form and Mid-Table Struggles
Emerging
Controversial
Manchester United supporters are expressing frustration over their side's inability to compete consistently, particularly against smaller teams, with fans criticising the performance against Sunderland as symptomatic of deeper squad quality issues. The discussion highlights growing concerns about whether the current squad can genuinely challenge for major honours in European competition, with many questioning player standards and tactical execution.
Manchester United Fans Hail Lammens as Defensive Saviour
Controversial
Manchester United supporters have rallied behind goalkeeper Senne Lammens following the goalless draw at Sunderland, with fans crediting him as the standout performer after a largely underwhelming team display. Despite the frustration at the attacking performance, Lammels's clean sheet and crucial saves have become the focal point of post-match discussion, with supporters expressing gratitude for what they view as an essential signing.
Cunha's Late Dive Sparks Refereeing Fury
Emerging
Fans are divided over a late incident involving Matheus Cunha in the closing stages, with some believing he was genuinely fouled and the referee made a terrible decision, whilst others are convinced he dived and are mocking his theatrics. The moment has ignited debate about whether the Brazilian forward relies too heavily on gamesmanship rather than his natural ability.
Rain and Pitch Conditions Blamed for Shoddy Display
Emerging
Manchester United and Sunderland supporters are pinpointing heavy rain and a deteriorated pitch as the primary culprits behind the 0-0 stalemate, with fans arguing that dreadful playing surface and weather conditions made it near-impossible for either side to construct flowing football. The consensus is that whilst both teams produced poor play, environmental factors deserve substantial blame for the lack of quality on show.
Sunderland Player Escapes Red Card for Elbow Incident
Emerging
Fans are furious that a Sunderland player avoided a red card—or even a second yellow—for what they describe as an intentional elbow to an opponent's face, with widespread criticism that the referee's decision-making was inconsistent and would have resulted in a straight dismissal if the roles were reversed. Multiple posts highlight the contrast with previous incidents where Manchester United players have received harsh punishment for similar or lesser contact.
Manchester United Fans Divided Over Amorim's Legacy
United supporters are bitterly split on whether sacked manager Rúben Amorim was genuinely underperforming or simply lacked time and resources to implement his system, with some defending his foundations whilst others blame him entirely for the club's struggles and current stagnation under Michael Carrick.
Manchester United Fans Turn on Amad's Inconsistent Season
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are heavily criticising winger Amad's performances this campaign, with many questioning whether he has the quality to compete at Old Trafford and suggesting he belongs at a lower level like Sunderland, where he was previously loaned. A particular frustration centres on his inability to deliver consistent crosses for striker Benjamin Sesko, prompting debate about whether he merits continued selection in the side.
Manchester United Fans Debate Dalot's Rating and Absence
Emerging
Controversial
Manchester United supporters are locked in a debate about right-back Diogo Dalot's actual quality, with many dismissing recent positive assessments of him as overblown whilst simultaneously blaming his absence from the Sunderland match for United's failure to break down a stubborn defence. The discussion centres on whether Dalot deserves the praise he's been given, with fans sarcastically suggesting his benching cost United the three points in what proved a frustrating 0-0 draw.
Manchester United's Toothless Display Frustrates Fans
Emerging
United supporters are lambasting their team's attacking impotence at Sunderland, with the side managing zero shots on target until the 93rd minute despite dominating possession — a performance so devoid of cutting edge that fans are questioning the entire tactical approach and wondering what's gone wrong under the new management.
Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United's Tactical Identity
Emerging
Controversial
Manchester United fans are locked in debate over whether Bruno Fernandes shapes the club's counter-attacking style or merely fits into it, with some arguing he's the architect of their possession-poor approach whilst others insist the issue lies in squad quality and managerial setup. The discussion also touches on Bruno's assist record chase and his disciplinary behaviour, with opinion sharply divided on whether he's a "selfish" player prioritising personal milestones or simply world-class in a flawed system.
Manchester United Fans Rage at Referee Inconsistency
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are furious over what they perceive as a heavily biased refereeing display that allowed Sunderland players to escape punishment for multiple fouls and an apparent elbow on Bruno Fernandes, whilst United's own challenges were penalised. The 0-0 draw has intensified anger at what fans view as a catastrophically poor officiating performance that cost their side the match.
Mbeumo Debate Dominates as United Wingers Struggle
Emerging
Manchester United fans are locked in debate over Amad versus Bryson Mbeumo's form and selection, with widespread concern that both wingers have been ineffective and poorly utilised in recent matches. The discussion centres on Mbeumo's isolation on the right wing and lack of attacking support compared to the left flank, whilst acknowledging that Amad has offered even less when called upon.
Manchester United Players Criticised For Diving Display
Emerging
Fans are ridiculing Manchester United players for theatrical diving during the match, with particular scorn directed at what they perceive as desperate attempts to win fouls despite VAR's presence. The discussion centres on the poor quality and desperation of the dives, with supporters suggesting fatigue and tactical desperation drove the behaviour.
United Fans Divided on Midfielder's True Quality
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are locked in debate over whether a key midfielder—likely Mason Mount, who picked up a yellow card in the 54th minute—is genuinely world-class or merely a beneficiary of tactical systems that mask his inconsistency. The discussion oscillates between praise for his recent form and creative output, and criticism that he's overhyped, unreliable, and comparable to younger talents rather than worthy of his £100 million price tag.
Sunderland and Manchester United Fans Slam Dire Stalemate
Emerging
Controversial
Both sets of supporters were left exasperated by a desperately dull 0-0 draw, with fans describing the match as the worst performance of the season — so tedious that some actually fell asleep watching it. The lack of intensity and attacking ambition from either side drew widespread criticism, with viewers questioning whether the players were genuinely motivated to win.
United and Sunderland Fans Divided on Goalless Draw
Emerging
Controversial
Manchester United and Sunderland supporters have sharply differing takes on a frustrating 0-0 stalemate, with some dismissing the performance as dire and uninspired whilst others pragmatically accept a point when defeat felt possible. The match offered little attacking verve from either side, leaving fans torn between relief at avoiding loss and disappointment at the lack of quality on display.
Fans Debate Manchester United's Late Corner Stoppage
Supporters are divided over Michael Carrick's decision to blow the final whistle whilst Manchester United had an attacking corner in stoppage time, with many questioning whether the referee should have allowed the set-piece to be taken. The discussion touches on whether match officials are obligated to permit corners after the official time has elapsed.
Manchester United Squad Concerns Ahead of Champions League Return
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are frustrated by a flat performance against Sunderland and worried about squad depth as they prepare for European football next season, with several players' futures at the club now in question following unconvincing displays. Fans acknowledge the team has secured third place and Champions League qualification, but believe the lacklustre effort exposes serious gaps that will need addressing before competing in Europe.
Manchester United Fans Divided Over Carrick's Managerial Future
Emerging
Manchester United supporters are clashing over whether Michael Carrick deserves permanent manager status or whether the team's league position masks deeper tactical problems and squad limitations. The debate hinges on whether recent success represents genuine improvement or merely lucky results that will collapse next season without significant investment.
Manchester United Players Criticised for Disjointed Display
Controversial
Manchester United supporters have delivered a damning assessment of their side's performance against Sunderland, singling out poor midfield control, sloppy passing, and a lack of fluidity across the pitch as the main culprits behind the goalless draw. Whilst some fans offer context—pointing to the fixture's meaninglessness late in the season and injury/fatigue issues—the overwhelming consensus is that the players looked disconnected and failed to impose their game on an opponent they felt they should have beaten.
Sunderland and United Battle to Goalless Stalemate
Manchester United and Sunderland played out a frustrating 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light, with fans from both sides lamenting missed chances and describing the encounter as a missed opportunity despite some positive build-up play. The discussion centres on Sunderland's home fortress credentials and United's failure to convert openings, with supporters expressing both hope for a strong second-half push and resignation at another stalemate result.
Manchester United Fans Demand Major Summer Overhaul
Emerging
With Champions League qualification secured and little left to play for this season, Manchester United supporters are united in their verdict: the squad needs a wholesale rebuild across multiple positions, with particular focus on midfield depth, full-back upgrades, and striking options. Fans argue that performances in dead-rubber fixtures like the Sunderland draw have exposed fundamental squad weaknesses that Michael Carrick's managerial credentials alone cannot mask without serious investment from the ownership.

"Only player that can pat himself on the back today"
He's the reason we got 1 point today
Thought Dorgu was great in his cameo.
↳
Dorgu was okay under Amorim
↳
Ummm okay?
↳
Reminds me of when people screech "don't you know I'm a vegan!"
People here just seem to refuse to let Ruben go...let him go already people
↳
He was, until his Balon d’Orgu phase
It was a dead rubber with a rotated team. People whining like it matters at all.
Licha grew into the game much more in the second half after looking like he hadn't played in 5 years in the first. Clean sheet is always good. Mount getting 90+ mins in the Prem is good as well. Still not sure what his best position is though
↳
At full sharpness, he's a pressing 10 with enough technical creativity to be worth playing there. He's ideally a rotation option for Bruno/Cunha/Mbeumo and a specific tool to use against teams that are less comfortable on the ball. Other than the lightning pace Mbeumo displays, he can cover the roles each of our attacking mids can do as an understudy (though not quite at the level they've shown). Before we had Cunha and Mbeumo he had a niche as being the only attacking player we had that had the motor to engage in a press like Bruno does, but since they've come in, we've now got a few lads who can do it. On the plus side, this means we can set up to press better, which means we suit what he does best, on the downside, the others have established themselves as starters in his absence and we don't have a ton of games to rotate this season so he loses out.
With European football back on the table next season, we'll need what he brings defensively and hopefully he can regain some confidence in his body (when it comes to these injuries) and his ability on the ball so he can step in if Bruno's needing a break. It'll probably be a bit of a drop-off, mainly due to how exceptional Bruno has been this season in particular, but he has line cutting passes in him, he has whipped crosses in him, he has goals in him. He just needs to find some form and use them.
↳
We were missing just Casemiro and Sesko, wasn’t that rotated, was it?
↳
Dead rubber is one thing - but getting out-manoeuvred by Sunderland team does not bode well for Carrick if he takes the full-time job. He couldn’t beat a mid-block today. Showed how one-dimensional his side will be.
We speak as if we rotated the entire squad but it was basically just Dalot, Casemiro, Mbeumo and Sesko, with the only one that really arguably mattered being Casemiro. You can’t convince me you need the rest to beat Sunderland AND the players who stood in would’ve walked into Sunderland lineup, probably less Zirkzee.
"Disappointed to see Heaven lose his place, but I get it, still young and not the 'first choice'"
"Disappointed to see Heaven lose his place, but I get it, still young and not the 'first choice'"
Needs to rest our best defender mate 😉
Lost only one game with Heaven starting. Martinez, on the other hand, has single handedly cost us points.
↳
define single handedly in a team gane.
↳
Such nonsense. Very pleased with Heaven's progress but he's by no means yet the finished product and Martinez has been the most transformative defensive player in our team over the past five years. If he can avoid injury he should absolutely be starting in the long term.
↳
Then why not keep giving Heaven the game time he needs, especially in these matches with CL already secured
Risking Martinez for a game with no stakes is kinda baffling.
Heaven needs these minutes much more.
↳
Licha will probably be grateful for the match practice before the WC.
↳
2 words - shop. window.
↳
What’s the risk lol
↳
Getting injured for next season
"Our drop in level from Dalot/Sesko/Mbuemo/Casemiro to Maz/Zirkzee/Amad/Mount is shocking."
"Our drop in level from Dalot/Sesko/Mbuemo/Casemiro to Maz/Zirkzee/Amad/Mount is shocking."
Maz has played well. He’s a better fullback than Dalot. Mbuemo hasn’t been much better than Amad recently, they’re both in poor form
↳
Maz better fullback gimmick in 2026 fucking hell
↳
I mean he is, just because Carrick isn’t playing him ahead of Dalot doesn’t mean I feel he’s not a better fullback. All Dalot has over him are his runs in behind which he inevitably always cocks up and his athleticism
How the hell is Maz shocking ? Martinez, Zirk and Mount yes.
Maz was solid in defence, also familiar with his opponent
With so many changes and not balanced midfield is no surprise to me that this is how it looks. Maz, Mount, Zirkzee below 1000 minutes this season so far and it reflects on the field.
Is there even a drop-off in Mbeumo to Amad atp? They've both been awful
I think it’s more to do with the system and team shape with the midfield we are playing, I think it’s crucial that mazraoui is playing along with Martinez, he has the instinct of a midfielder
It’s not fair to blame the individuals when they’re forced to play in this suicide midfield 3
Maz is doing well.
Zirkzee is completely disappointing. Can’t hold up the ball well, can’t press, can’t pass, can’t finish what the hell is he good at
Mount is no CM. I’d rather have him or Mbeumo as the false 9 and give faith to T Fletcher as the CDM
Not Mount’s fault he’s playing out of position tbf
"Zirk is so fucking lazy man"
"Zirk is so fucking lazy man"
Good lad just not good enough for PL.
Nothing more to be said.
But he's so tidy man, didn't you hear? I can't fucking stand this word anymore for the amount of times I've seen on this sub everytime someone talks about Zirkzee
↳
That's cuz it's the only positive word we can use about him
↳
It's fucking useless to be tidy if it doesn't result in something positive
↳
Yup, completely agree
He is too nonchalant, too chill. Super nice laidback guy that has the same character on the pitch. You need fucking monsters ready to fight in this league.
↳
Need that Blue Lock mentality but IRL lmao
↳
This is the issue isn’t it. When the first thing that comes to people’s mind when complimenting zirkzee is that he’s a nice guy, you know we gotta move him on lol. It’s a shame but it just hasn’t worked out
↳
Being nice is fine. Guys like Maguire, Mazaroui, Lammens even Bruno are absolute gentlemen off the pitch, but increase the intensity when they're playing. Zirk doesn't
Bring in Dorgu or Mbeumo for Zirk
"Amad really needs to step up soon"
"Amad really needs to step up soon"
He’s poor when not at RWB where he gets more time and space
Would've been great to see Lacey today
He’s regressed so much this season. I don’t get it. I had such high hopes for him to take that next step.
It hurts to watch him the last few weeks. Hope he can recover over the summer.
↳
Nah I will get rid of him we’re moving to bigger things
↳
Do you wanna sign two wingers?
We need a new winger for sure this summer. Amad is too comfortable making stupid mistakes constantly
↳
Should give Lacey some minutes towards the end of season instead of Amad.
No, we are Manchester United. He needs to be sold. Get rid.
↳

We looked ten times better once Zirkzee went off. He seems like a nice lad but he is very clearly not at the level we need. Has to be replaced in the Summer.

34' Another Sunderland chance as Sadiki is laid off on the edge of the box. Mount gets the deflection and Sunderlsnd win the corner.

Sesko injured then, fuck that Konate prick
Would like to see Zirkzee do well on a rare start, especially as there's a chance he might not be here much longer. Scoring on a Bruno assist for the record would be lovely

We should just start elbowing center halves in the face as we go for headers in the box.
