How these roles work
Blamed (Causer)
Fans named this player as the direct cause of a negative outcome. Examples: "Maguire gave away the penalty", "Ten Hag's formation cost us". Scores are amplified when the causer is blamed clearly.
Sympathy (Victim)
This player was on the receiving end of something — a foul, a bad decision, being dropped, or let down by teammates. Fans feel for them rather than against them.
Credit (Beneficiary)
Fans gave this player clear credit for a positive outcome — a goal, an assist, a key moment. Includes players who enabled something good to happen. This is the co-winner of a match moment.

I see no reason why we can’t push for European spots next season with Vuskovic coming in and a competent manager, so long as we can avoid relegation.

The thing what struck me was the speed of the build up.
All season we've been so slow in the final third that it gives teams time to get players behind the ball and the attack fizzles out. Tonight we passing it much quicker and more directso we were much more a threat going forward. Hardly seen that at all under Frank. It was all just crosses and fuck all else.
MOTM, can't decide between Gray Xavi or Tel.

@SpursOfficial Actually enjoyed watching the team put in an effort finally! Gray was superb again.
@AlasdairGold Atlético players dove many times in both legs amd foul was given but when there is actually a foul for us, play on play on🤡
I think he’s actually way more selfish than Timo, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Timo was usually less inclined to take a shot himself than he was to pass if given the option, at least when he played for us. Tel is hungrier. I imagine his decision making will improve as he grows.

Yep. Players you hope will perform at least when the chance arises, did (Tel, Simons, RKM). Players you know can perform at least did also in moments that mattered (Romero, Spence, VDV).
If only Porro's outside of the boot shot had gone in. One of two big team goal chances.
Still, proud of that performance.
Another Tel shot at the keeper after Dragusin pokes the ball his way. https://t.co/SHVaiDIHGg

Spurs Fans Celebrate Battling Display Despite Elimination
Emerging
Controversial
Tottenham supporters are finding pride in their team's spirited performance against Atletico Madrid despite crashing out of the Europa League, with many praising the entertaining football and statistical merit of the effort even though the result didn't go their way. The discussion reveals a deeper thread about unconditional loyalty to the club through thick and thin, with fans sharing personal stories about generational support that transcends whether the team wins or loses.
European Exit Sparks Relegation Fears and False Pride
Emerging
Controversial
Fans are bitterly divided over their team's elimination from a European competition despite winning the final home leg, with some clinging to the individual victory whilst others acknowledge the aggregate defeat and pivot focus to a desperate fight against relegation. The mood is darkly comedic—oscillating between frustration at past trophy droughts and gallows humour about imminent league troubles, suggesting a fanbase watching their season unravel across multiple fronts.
European Refs Under Fire For Inconsistent Calls
Emerging
Fans are furious about what they perceive as blatantly poor refereeing decisions across European matches, with particular frustration over controversial yellow and red cards, questionable fouls, and suspicions that diving went unpunished whilst legitimate contact was heavily penalised. The consensus is that officiating has been so inconsistent it's actively decided matches, with Atletico Madrid specifically called out for benefiting from dodgy decisions.
Mixed Verdict on Emerging Star's Latest Performance
Emerging
Fans are debating a player's inconsistent display—praising his exceptional moments and overall improvement whilst criticising a crucial decision-making lapse late in the match. The conversation reflects cautious optimism about his development, with supporters acknowledging his potential despite continued questions about his consistency in the Premier League.
Fans Flip-Flop on Tudor After One Win
Emerging
Controversial
Supporters are calling out the fanbase's reactive nature after the team's victory, noting how quickly opinion swung from demanding the manager's sacking to backing him completely. The discussion highlights a broader frustration with inconsistent fan behaviour that changes week-to-week based on results, rather than sustained analysis of performance.
Spurs Fans Celebrate Grit Amid European Exit
Emerging
Controversial
Tottenham supporters are acknowledging a mixed bag — their side has crashed out of European competition but are showing improved character and individual performances that suggest something positive is being rebuilt. The discussion balances frustration with bottled opportunities against cautious optimism about the team's trajectory and standout displays like Son's stunning goal.
Xavi Simons Earns Redemption Through Pressure Performance
Controversial
Fans are largely impressed with Xavi Simons's display in the match, particularly his composure under pressure and his two-goal contribution, with many admitting they'd underestimated him and now backing him as a key player for next season. The discussion centres on his character—rallying the crowd despite the result—and his potential alongside young talents like Archie and Tel, though some remain critical of broader tactical issues.
Spurs Fans Divided Over Refereeing Decisions And Match Quality
Emerging
Controversial
Tottenham supporters are debating a controversial match involving questionable refereeing calls (particularly around a tackle by Rugbee that went unpunished) whilst also praising individual performances like Alvarez's quality play. The discourse reflects frustration with officiating standards and wider questions about whether recent matches have genuinely entertained them.
Fans React to Controversial Match Moment
Emerging
Arsenal supporters are locked in a heated row over a contentious incident from a match they didn't all witness, with some defending the player involved whilst others dish out brutal criticism. The debate's descended into typical online chaos—personal insults flying, accusations of fickleness, and dark humour about memes replacing genuine football discussion.
Archie Gray Puts On A Masterclass Display
Fans are absolutely raving about Archie Gray's performance, with supporters united in praise for his all-action display and his seemingly effortless involvement in everything positive the team produced. The consensus is crystal clear—this was the performance that officially announced him as a player ready to shoulder serious responsibility at this level.
Debate Over Greedy Shot In Close Defeat
Fans are divided over a player's decision to shoot instead of pass late in a match that ended in a narrow aggregate loss, with some defending it as a 50-50 call that could've gone either way, whilst others argue it was a costly mistake the youngster will learn from. The discussion reveals typical match-day frustration mixed with recognition of the player's overall positive contributions throughout the game.
Refs Blasted as Commentators Fuel Fan Fury
Fans are absolutely seething over a combination of poor refereeing decisions and, crucially, a commentator's repeated mistakes—including misidentifying players by name—which they're viewing as careless and disrespectful. The commentary error (naming the wrong player for a foul) has wound supporters up even more than the ref's decisions, with some calling out the broadcaster for lack of professionalism and accountability.
Tottenham Fans Divided on Tel's Controversial Pass
Controversial
Spurs supporters are split over a crucial pass or shot decision by Tel during a recent match, with some praising his attacking intent and match-winning potential whilst others criticise his decision-making and finishing. The debate exposes broader disagreement among the fanbase about whether Tel deserves backing as a future legend or represents a frustrating inconsistency in the team's play.
Tottenham Fans Rage Over Referee Decisions
Spurs supporters are venting intense frustration at what they perceive as poor officiating that cost their side in a match, with many expressing anger across multiple languages whilst others attempt to stay pragmatic about focusing on Premier League priorities. The discussion spans from outright criticism of the referee's performance to calls for the team to move forward and concentrate on more important competition matters.
Spurs Fans React to Controversial Official Tweet
Emerging
Tottenham's official Twitter account posted something that's drawn ridicule and mockery from supporters, who are calling out the club for poor timing or tone-deaf messaging during a match. The overwhelming response is laughter and disbelief, suggesting the tweet has become a focal point of fan frustration rather than engagement.
Tel's Shooting Decision Divides the Fanbase
Controversial
Fans are locked in debate over whether Tel made the right call by shooting instead of passing during a crucial first-half chance that could've swung the match. Opinion splits between those who respect his confidence and finishing instinct versus those who think a cutback to teammates would've been the smarter play.
Spurs Fans Chase Comeback Magic at the Lane
Tottenham supporters are buzzing about the possibility of a dramatic Remontada—a stunning second-half comeback—with some joking they'd see a three-goal turnaround and penalty win, though the mood shifts as the comeback hopes fade. The discussion captures that rollercoaster of hope and despair that defines big European nights, with fans oscillating between belief and resignation as the match unfolds.
Spurs Fans Rage at Referee's Inconsistent Foul Decisions
Tottenham supporters are fuming over what they believe was a clear foul missed in the build-up to a goal that should have been ruled out, with fans convinced the referee applied wildly inconsistent standards throughout the match — allowing shoulder charges against Spurs whilst penalising the slightest contact on opposition players. The overwhelming narrative is one of victimisation, with fans arguing Spurs are systematically disadvantaged by officiating compared to other teams.

"Objectively a great performance.
But I'd be lying if I said that, despite having no hope, I don't leave disappointed. Namely because so many of their goals were absolute jokes. 3 in the first leg were as a direct result of slips. The 4th was blatant cheating with an Alvarez dive. One of theirs tonight was a blatant foul.
The luck just wasn't with us, and that's in spite of one of our goals being an Oblak error yet it still doesn't equate. Both teams could have had someone sent off. Us with van de Ven, them with whatever the fuck that Lookman swipe was.
Battled well. Actually played well post-Kinsky last week. 3 encouraging performances back-to-back (or maybe 2 and a half).
Biggest thing from tonight is that the hoodoo of not winning at home for so long going into the weekend has been nerfed.
Referee was appalling, as is the standard."

"@fifi_august @SpursOfficial A Spurs remontada here? Down 3-5 agg after Kolo Muani's 30' header (1-0 on night), they need 3+ goals with no reply from Atleti to advance.
60+ mins left + home roar helps, but Simeone's parked bus + Oblak make it a miracle job. Realistic odds: ~15%. Football miracles exist though (see Barca '17). Gunner verdict? 😏 COYS or nah?"

"We didn’t lose. We won.
Although I get what you mean. We were still eliminated.
I’m not just being pedantic here for the sake of it. That’s the first game we’ve won in ages. And we need that to continue (not start) against Forest."
"You guys did well tonight. Over the tie you actually had higher expected goals than they did.
You should be proud of your team.
You may yet go down, but you can remember this night as a proud one in spurs history. You got more expected goals over two legs than the 3rd best team in Spain.
I couldn’t do that."
"And the silver lining is that now we can fully focus on not getting relegated. And we don’t have to play that mean Barca side. "
"Yes I forgot about that. Frick me on that eh. It’s that 80th minute goal from Oh. Might be rough considering they aren’t playing at home. It’ll be rough… Wood might not start either which will be a low for them.."

Same, really proud of the fire and we looked like a good team on many occasions (some beautiful attack flow on the first half that I never saw under Thomas Frank), the crowd resonated with what was show on the pitch.
I'm happy that it seems that Tudor is able to reach the lads and get their confidence back. If the team plays like that the rest of the way, we won't go down.
And best display from Xavi with us easily, looked really good.
There's no what if lol, Atletico took their foot off the gas when they were up 3-0
We were never winning this tie
There’s enough what ifs from this game , Simmons was fouled before their fist goal , if tel had passed to Archie , Gallagher foul would have been a pen if it was against us…. Fact is it’s the best we’ve played all season , feel we were robbed by the ref , team did amazing … so fucking proud of them , first win of the year COYSSSS
I loved the intensity today from everyone. It feels like we’ve turned a corner.
↳
And my god, we could string together passes!
We’re gonna be alright. 8 more of these - we’ll be alright.
Probably the best performance I have seen this season. Everyone was turned on from minute 1 itself with full intensity.
We won a game, we played well, the fans are with the players right now. Keep up the vibes and we’ve got this on Sunday!
I’m dying until I’m Tottenham, or something.
Its genuinely unbelievable that this team is in a relegation squabble
I never wanna hear the "Players are not good enough" argument
↳
If the players were as good as you make them to be, we wouldn’t be near relegation. You really think coach can manage ability away from players? It’s more that players can overperform in singular matches, which it has looked like this season (and last season). They are mentality midgets that only thrive when they can think that they are “meant to lose”.
"We need to keep hold of Gray, Bergvall and Vuskovic at any cost. "
"We need to keep hold of Gray, Bergvall and Vuskovic at any cost. "
I remember watching Vuskovic playing in pre season. Thinking he might play for us soon. Then we loaned him out, and now there’s talks of his departure. Like what.
↳
If he leaves, he will be the most expensive defender ever 100mil +.
I would upgrade that to include Tel and Moore, probably Souza too
↳
And Sarr! We really need a young striker too. I don’t think Scarlett or Lankshear is that guy unfortunately.
↳
Lankshear has looked good.
Would like to see Scarlett get a decent run somewhere. I still think he has potential.
We also just signed Melia - the Irish kid. You probably forgot because he was injured on arrival and has since vanished...
↳
These players will all be sold for a profit, which is nice given our recent history, but none of them will be at the levels of the other players we are discussing.
↳
Archie's younger brother is a striker.
I've solved the problem!
They’re the whole club homegrown strategy, so they’ll be expensive to pry away. Club homegrown senior players crucial now for squad size in European campaigns.
↳
Apparently Vuskovic might not count toward HG, as the "loan out while still registered in PL" trick doesn't work with all leagues. Regardless we need to keep him anyway.
↳
People have shit on Lange because his short term strategy haves been nothing short of abysmal but it’s important to remember that we’re building for the medium to long term and these guys are a core part of that process.
"If one pays attention, this is a very common problem with commentators in the English speaking world; black players get confused for each other sooooo much more often.
There's actually some interest"
"If one pays attention, this is a very common problem with commentators in the English speaking world; black players get confused for each other sooooo much more often.
There's actually some interest"
I remember Ian Darke saying he had this problem so he always noted what color boots everyone was wearing. At least some commentators try.
It’s not actually technically racist, not that you called it that. We’re predisposed to notice defining features of the people we’ve spent the most time around in our lives. As a Caucasian, I could drive by a black coworker walking down a street but notice someone I know from the gym 2 seconds later! If I grew up in Africa, it would be the opposite. We are predisposed
That being said, there’s 20 players for the commentator to call out and it’s their job. Do better
Yeah the cross race effect is real. If you belong to a group like a university or a club you also recognize those people easier. So for us spurs fans we know the differences but these white announcers don’t. Reallly need more diversity in the commentators box.
I thought it was pretty beyond the pale when he messed up three black players in a row, but then he called some bald white guy Arne Slot so it’s all good now
While it's true that it is common, even in a lot of cases where players don't look alike. Sarr and Kolo Muani genuinely look very similar from afar and that's OK.
↳
Sarr's skinnier and moves differently.
After you've watched these guys for awhile, gait is actually the easiest way to differentiate between players after looks.
At least Sarr and RKM are 29 and 39, I guess if you just saw the 9. But they're also so different in build and gait. I noticed the commentator getting them confused at least three times.
29 and 39 can be genuinely tough to distinguish at a glance on the broadcast tbf. You're not wrong overall though, it's a real problem
If this wasn't their entire job in life, I wouldn't be triggered at all, but it's literally all they gonna do in life, and English commentators, out of all commentators in the world, speak much less in matches than the rest, predominantly Spanish and Arabic where commentators never shut up during the 90 minutes.
Pretty sure that was the main reason Sissoko did the wrist tape, so his family (iirc his grandma) could spot him easily
"Gotta square it there"
"Gotta square it there"
The square is a better decision but shooting is not a bad choice here. He's close enough that most of the time it's a goal. Didn't get the right connection obviously. Most important is to be decisive, and he was decisive at least. Sometimes people screw up that square too (the defender isn't that far away so it needs to be played with some pace, and you risk it a bit with pace of over hitting it or putting a slight bounce on the ball)
You mean X surely?
If he presses square it's over the bar.
↳
Double tap square
↳
That's a triangle situation imo
↳
It's an X all day long! There's no room for a triangle. Too close to the goalkeeper!
↳
I agree with you, butIf I do x in that play, the game makes the pass right into the defenders, less chance the triangle goes to the keeper imo, but it's really not up to me in the end, the game is all powerful
↳
Praise be to the algorithm!
↳
I'd have triangled that one
↳
I’ve been playing with alternate controls since the PES days
↳
Right? Press square to shoot. Circle is a cross.
"Its sad to go out.
But whats not sad is our performance. We did ourselves proud today. This is the type of fire I want to see for the remainder of the season. Give us this football and we'll be safe."
"Its sad to go out.
But whats not sad is our performance. We did ourselves proud today. This is the type of fire I want to see for the remainder of the season. Give us this football and we'll be safe."
Yeah we should’ve signed him when he left City.
So why haven't they been playing this way every other game?? They've literally just shown they can do it. Have they not wanted to??
↳

Alvarez is so good, he was everywhere and did everything
Did you mean cheater? Flopped like a fish in the first leg, kicked through Xavi here.
We needed to go out, but we did it in style.
↳
Yeah it’ll be nice not playing two games every week with our depleted squad. Always sad to go out of a cup, especially the CL, but at least we can focus on staying in PL now and less minutes in the legs.
Showed why he was 75 million euros or whatever it was , thought we kept griezman quite
↳
Greizmann is like 40
May be the best we’ve played all season, bring this energy the rest of the schedule and we’ll definitely stay up
